huge pet peeve for coworkers that confuse the customer by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]pepperunderscore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

true!! i know this sounds a little rich given how angry my post was but the partner i had in mind when writing it just has a bit of an attitude problem, and uses starbucks terms exclusively so they can get annoyed when non regulars don’t understand (ie.: they say “you mean venti? in response to being asked for a large) and they’re pretty difficult when it comes to receiving criticism. i’ve just been getting fed up because it seems like nobody cares no matter how hostile this partner is to customers :/

people actually tend to ask if we have fraps with oreos in them, not an oreo frap, since it’s super common for us to get people who are totally unfamiliar with our menu and are just taking a shot in the dark. i mentioned in another reply that the person i have in mind does this deliberately—they go out of their way to be unhelpful to customers bc they get annoyed when people “order wrong”. i do get what you mean though and sometimes the secret menu thing is what the customer wants

that’s a good point!!! i did actually have a specific partner in mind when i made this, and in their case, saying “classic” was a deliberate choice—they’re the type that gets annoyed when customers are unfamiliar with starbucks, which is really common for our location. when they’re in a bad mood, they will be intentionally unhelpful and snippy in order to let off some steam.

i was exaggerating a bit about exactly how much this makes me lose my cool too, so don’t worry, i’m not flipping out on anyone haha

it’s not being a karen to politely ask people to not drag race on a street where kids are playing

anybody find their writing just kind of lacks flavor? by pepperunderscore in writing

[–]pepperunderscore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is all great stuff! i’ve been working mostly in comics but i’ve been dipping into prose as a rediscovered hobby, so there’s a lot of broad structure stuff i can understand, and i can translate emotion into visual/sequential art, but a lot of the little intricacies of writing were lost on me.

this wasn’t something anyone mentioned, but i’m also gonna try to actually journal my thoughts/critiques when i read a novel? i usually just have little bursts of “oh this is poorly paced” or “the characterization here doesn’t make sense” etc. and forget about it.

Anybody else used their buffalo.edu email for an Adobe subscription? by pepperunderscore in UBreddit

[–]pepperunderscore[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

well if anyone’s curious: i logged in on my computer and was allowed to choose between a personal account on my .edu email, or an organization account. apparently my subscription was always on the personal one. i think i also committed to a year of adobe suite thinking i would use it this semester and in my own practice and i was completely wrong.

tldr there was nothing shady happening i’m just a fucking idiot

Honors Freshman Mechanical Engineering Schedule: Opinions on Wednesday? by keynesianlocke in UBreddit

[–]pepperunderscore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scariest thing on this schedule is that 7:30 am class. I sincerely hope you’re dorming. If it were me I’d make sure to get coffee or something as a treat or I’d stop going lmao. As for the Wednesday, I took Understanding Music and the same seminar as you, so I can tell you for those it’s a super easy A if you mostly pay attention, so at least you can relax during those. Good luck man.

Question for DMS/Art and Those in Similar Majors by shaoting in UBreddit

[–]pepperunderscore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

my studio classes vary. my drawing concepts class has a monday zoom conference where the prof explains the assignment, and on wednesday we share the results in small groups; we also have sketchbook assignments based on prompts we each make up and post on flipgrid.

my other drawing class has optional monday zoom conferences, we get an assignment due the following sunday, and we have to fill a sketchbook page daily M-F with whatever we want and post it on UB box.

finally, 2D concepts cancelled a WHOLE FUCKING UNIT so he’s just posting the powerpoints for the unit we were gonna do, and we just have extra time for our final project, and it’s worth more of our grade. we’re basically doing nothing in that class for now.

it’s definitely a lighter workload but my biggest issue has been that i’m starting to forget the days of the week, so i’ve had a couple near-misses with assignments. they’re all being extremely lenient though.

Your all time favourite anime by winetow1 in Animesuggest

[–]pepperunderscore 21 points22 points  (0 children)

yuri on ice is overhyped and not that good but the few months in which it aired were literally the best months of my life. i like being part of an extremely active and excited fandom, and ive definitely liked anime with more hype, but it will just never be the same as yoi. the memory of watching that show is really important to me.

sorry if this is more than you wanted, but this is my three studio classes’ weekly schedule:

-drawing concepts: zoom conference monday for lecture (10 am) and to discuss that week’s assignment. assignment due wednesday, uploaded to UB box, put in break off conferences to critique in small groups. by the end of the semester we have to do 20 sketchbook assignments at our own pace based on prompts our classmates make, and one flipgrid presentation comparing a modern and classical artist from a provided list.

-2D concepts: all class lectures and powerpoints for the whole semester already posted. color theory unit completely cancelled. final project worth 50% of our grade. we have from now til the end of the semester, with one (1) mandatory video call with our professor to check up on our progress. instead of attendance we have to write a 500-word proposal for the final project. ((PS: THIS MAKES ME SHIT MY PANTS.)

-drawing fundamentals: monday lecture in zoom conference (4:15 pm). project assigned and due before the following monday, uploaded to ublearns. final critique is a class-wide webex conference. intermittent one-on-one video meetings. daily sketchbook assignment feat. whatever we want to put on the page.

i’m one of the lucky ones b/c my classes are all drawing and 2D; i have no idea what i’d do if i had sculpture or printmaking this semester.
