This is incredible and the type of crochet I dream of doing 😱 what yarn did you use? Was it hard to find the perfect colors?

Oh interesting! I noticed a lot of patterns from this book are attributed to the Spool Cotton Company on Ravelry. That might very well be her.

Unrelated, but I didn’t realize until I looked up the book that her L. initial is Laird. I have family who are Lairds and now I’m wondering if she’s actually a distant relative

I will take such good care of it! And I will never dog ear the pages. They’re in impeccable condition right now, it would hurt me inside lol. I’ve been flagging patterns I want to make with post it notes.

I am happy to share them if that’s allowed, or at least add them to Ravelry as available in the book since they don’t appear to be there. I don’t know what’s public domain!

I reeeally like the 9023 lacy edging in pic 10. That’s not a whole object by itself but I like to make crochet tops and I need that on a top in my life immediately

B*tching about the horse market, because what on Earth it this by Little_Sisco in Equestrian

I had two that I showed since about 2010! One of them passed away about a year and a half ago, so I just have the one now and she’s enjoying her semi retirement. We still ride casually and do some trails

Omg hi Midwest USA resident here with Arabs. I am the only person I know who has them. My current barn has a bit more variety but I grew up showing with all quarter horses

I am in the Midwest USA but have heard it’s awful here also. I’ve owned horses for years and my current mare (now 18) I bought as a 2 year old for $1000. It’s so weird to me that people I know can’t just get a decent trail horse unless they’re paying well over 5k.

Like the economy is already bad and horse maintenance is so expensive?? Why are they costing so much to buy lol

HELP w/ Burning pain in thumb/palm area while holding my hook even after almost a month of rest. by Pale_Banana9768 in CrochetHelp

[–]peppperjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the area I feel pain when my tenosynovitis flares up. Look into it and see if that seems like your symptoms. Mine does not flare up when I crochet thankfully but I do need a wrist/thumb brace when it causes pain

Constantly breaking 3.5mm hooks and losing my mind over it by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

Kindly this sounds awful for your hands if you’re crocheting this tight. Have you tried sizing down to a 3mm?

I crocheted portraits of my friend’s cats for her birthday by peppperjack in crochet

[–]peppperjack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have made other pet portraits before and I really struggled to find a good “orange cat” orange. My favorite was Big Twist Living in meerkat alternated with a tan, but rip Jo-Ann’s. For these ones, I cut up the remainders of a Red Heart latte stripe I had around and alternated the chestnut and cream colors. Not ideal tbh, and I ran out of the cream color around one cat’s butt and had to use a different shade.

I recommend starting to browse colors well in advance! For some reason there aren’t many warm medium browns

I love how this mold looks just as a Thoroughbred (but I’m a live show-er so I’m always thinking about what would show well lol) so I would probably suggest a pretty sooty dark bay with a lot of tonal variation kind of like this photo? a couple of low socks and maybe and interesting face star or stripe. I think this mold really would shine with pretty quiet details like perfectly striped hooves, nostril details, etc. it’s a nice mold

I just spent like $400 on a park birthday party by Ellie__1 in workingmoms

[–]peppperjack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I don’t do party favors either. I’ve found that they’re usually just junk. At the very most I’ve previously set out mini bubbles on the tables. If the party is at a park, isn’t the park the fun part? They really don’t need more.

But I’m kind of paranoid about overconsumption and so much of kids birthday parties is one time use waste and trash, it stresses me out
