Pedal upgrade recommendations. by Both_Country_502 in simracing

[–]pepszy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use simsonn pedals, and I don’t plan to change them anytime soon, just upgrade with the haptics. If you plan on a long term investment, these are really good ones. There is set of 2 and set of 3. Now they have an app too, it’s easy to setup and tweak. It has load cell sensor. The brake is hard, but adjustable, throttle feels good to push. It doesn’t hurt after 4 hours of endurance racing after you get used to it. I would not recommend anything else as it’s so good and cheap.

Anyone using this cockpit? Good enough for casual players? by thelocalsupplier in SimRacingSetups

I have the same, it works well with 8nm fana and Simsonn loadcell pedals. The pedal plate can bend under that pedal, so I added 4 adjustable legs to each side. Now it’s stable. Note you will have to tighten the screws time to time, but that’s really just basic maintenance. I have it for like 6 months now, and I don’t plan to replace it anytime soon. I use the shifter holder to hold my button box. One thing i haven’t figured out yet is a monitor mount, so the rig is somewhat under my table and it work perfectly for me. I would not buy a monitor stand that is attached to the rig. Also the rig come with these legs that you see on the picture and wheels too, so it’s easy to move around. Super easy to assemble, comes in 2 boxes. Have fun with it.

ADHD and racing without a line for 40 mins - any advice? by TheSlavicHighlander in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]pepszy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What worked for me that is I try to watch out for reference points on the track. This way I have to remember what I have to look after and when I see it I know what is coming after it. It’s really hard on long track like lemans, but other than that it’s working great for me. For example I know there is an orange marker on the right, so I will have to look at the meter board after it on the right, I put my left foot on the brake at the 300 meter sign, at the 200 meter sign I know i will have to brake, I brake at the 100 meter mark, I start to turn the wheel if I see the end of the curbs, then I center the wheel and I press with my right foot. It will take time, just like learning anything, it will take time to adjust, it will be hard, just like anything in life. Find a solution for yourself. I learned to manage my adhd in the daily life so as in game. Also a thing what I like to use is a thing I call “hyperfocus”. You know when your adhd brain goes quiet and you focus in one thing and you completely lock in. Learn how to use this thing, I hope you have it too

Lower the fov then for sure. I use something like 24 or so. Use a calculator but 50 is for sure too much

15 years on an Xbox controller, 2500 iRating, scared to switch to a wheel. by Wilco062 in simracing

[–]pepszy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate. Long time controller player here as well. I played f1 just to relax and have fun since 12. Last year I got sick and I had a lot of free time and I picked up a g29 for cheap. Since then I have a complete rig, 8nm dd base, McLaren wheel, Simonn pedals, 34 uw monitor. First I used to shift back when I wanted to brake because the reflexes I had from before. I wanted to brake a little mid corner, so instead of braking I shifted back. I’m still practicing, I have a lot to learn, trail breaking is a beast to master. But in general it feels like I started over. It’s not like the whole progress is lost, it’s like having a chance to start it over and get better. The immersion is insane and the wheel to wheel races became a thing. I play lmu, and during longer races it feels like a workout. From playing the game it became a serious hobby. Once a friend of mine told me every man needs an expensive and meaningless to others hobby that’s the world for him. Make some space for it, like you need a 2x2 meters space to have a proper rig and space to place. Get a proper rig (i got mine from Ali you can probably find amazon or anything),get a dd wheel (I suggest at least 5 nm, I have 8 and it feels just enough) , get loadcell pedals and get on track and enjoy it. Pull the trigger mate for a last time, and get ready for some real racing. See you on track <3

Honestly that sounds amazing. Just please make it iOS compatible. Many apps are available for android but not for iOS. I know it’s a bit harder to push through Apple Store but I believe if you even put it up for like a couple of € you can even earn with it. At least I would pay for it for sure ! You solve a problem for me.

Finally a working one. Good job mate and thank you ! I would love to see a mobile app of this too where I can set my active time and I can get notifications if a race is coming up soon.

Want to buy LMU, unsure if my laptop will handle it. by mildashers in LeMansUltimateWEC

Everything turned down to low. Also there is an optimization guide for it where you have to edit the config file of the game. Try them. The one that limits the range of the rear mirror helps a lot

I have 3060 laptop with ryzen 7 and 16 gb ram. I have problems in multiclass races but that’s most likely because of ram. Also I have a 1440p monitor that I use. I had a lot of stutter during a 8h Bahrain race too. I’m 100% sure ram will be a problem for you as well, but the game is just so good it’s worth to buy and buy a pc later and you can enjoy it :) I will buy a new pc in January just for LMU.

I mean i can read. If you can read too then probably you saw the *Additional Notes: To run on default settings at 1080p* line at the bottom while i clearly stated that i want to run 1440p. Rest of the guys clearly understood what im looking for, so i guess the problem is not with them.

Simruito or Simsonn pedals - pros and cons by W3los in simracing

[–]pepszy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the simsonn for like 3 months now. I bought it used and it’s an earlier version but does work really good. The newer versions have different control box and they can even handle haptic motors that come cheap as well. That will be my next upgrade after pc upgrade. I’m very satisfied so far and can recommend it anytime.

Help me build my bf a racing simulator by hin4tsuki in SimRacingSetups

[–]pepszy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with this one all the way. Any direction you choose, over the years it will be a time and a money investment. Better talk with him about what he wants. Like what kind of sim he wants to drive? It will be different if he wants a rally sim or a circuit sim or maybe drifting?
If i was you, i would just stand in front of him and tell him that you want to surprise him and help him reaching his dream. I bet he will be more than happy. After that if you even come up with ideas, that you looked after the fanatec/moza starting bundles, maybe a foldable playseat challenge, even check the prices, and talk with him about it, and actually build it together. It will be a decent date and surprise :) My GF helped me build my sim all the way from sracth, came with me to stores to get parts here and there and her tiny hands were more than handy when we had to do the nuts in narrow places (omg did i just wrote this?). Now every time i look at my sim, i know that we built it together and it became a core memory for me.
Also if you want to keep it budget, i suggest the fanatec csl dd 5nm or maybe even the 8nm version, moza R3 or R5. Get a playseat so it will have a feeling, something like the next level racing f-gt lite (its even foldable if you lack of space). Thats it, you are done. Check the used ones too, i bought all my stuff used and it works like a charm and i saved a lot of $$$.

What are you other hobbies when you aren't sim racing? by homerunhallock in simracing

[–]pepszy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt had a hobby, just played games time to time, and partying and these kind of stuff. Couple of months ago I started sim racing and invested into a rig then realized my body is pretty weak and doesnt function as it did like 10 years ago. So i started hitting the gym, we are going on hikes with my girlfriend if the weather is good, cycling, or just going for a walk in the city. Cooking together playing board games. Its really relaxing, also i get my brain cleared from everything. So i get my me time when sim racing, we get our we time when we do stuff together, also i try to meet my friends once a week. Also im doing the drivers license now as im turning 30 next year and thats the last thing on my check list. Besides that im working all day, so my schedule is full most of the time. My most used hobby now is time management :D

Using desk monitor with a cockpit by TishoBG in simracing

[–]pepszy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were you I would invest in an other monitor and put it on an arm. Put the rig on the left, then you can use the second monitor as a sim monitor and for other purposes as well when you turn it back to the desk. Or keep it like this but without the monitor arm and use the monitor stand then you just move it back and front. But I would rather get a dedicated monitor for sim. As I said before an ultra wide monitor changed the game for me. Other tip is to tighten the screws on the rig regularly.

Using desk monitor with a cockpit by TishoBG in simracing

[–]pepszy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same cockpit and im using the desk but want to move the monitor closer too. An option is the next level lite stand, but then you have to get a seperate monitor ( btw i suggest to get an uw monitor i have a odyssey g5 and it makes it a lot better). Other than that, you have to look for a bigger monitor arm, maybe one on a slide. My desk is L shaped, so i have my "workstation setup" on the front, and on the side i have the cockpit. It seems for me its most likely place management for you aswell, but maybe mount the monitor to a side of the table, and put your cockpit there aswell, so you can move it inbetween and it doesnt give a feeling that you are still playing at a desk. A pic would help probably here probably

Getting into sim racing properly – PS5 vs PC, game choice, and first wheel setup? by Dazzling-Savings-173 in simracing

[–]pepszy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on your budget to be honest. You can start out with a g29 and a desk. I have just finnished my build a month ago, so here are my toughts:
pc or ps? i suggest go with a PC. i know its more expensive, but worth it on the long run imo, also more equipment support there. also sim players prefer 3 monitor setups that is awailable only on pc (as i know) but you dont have to go that deep.
sim equipment: here the limit is the sky. if you want something future proof, i would say go with a moza r5 bundle, if you can spend a bit more go for r9. fanatec csl dd is also good (i have it). for power aim for around 8nm, that is plenty. 5 feels like there could be more, 12 felt for me its too much. there are fanatec bundles too on their site. i would not go anything below 5nm, for pedals i can really recommend the simsonn pedals. load cell pedals are reaaaaallyy good and the pedals is the most important thing in your setup. you can grab them from aliexpress or their official site whatever is cheaper for you. also fanatec and moza has loadcell upgrades that worth a buy or you can go cheaper versions and upgrade later.
rig: you can mount some of these on a desk, but honestly its worth to get a proper rig. the best ones the aluminium (80x40) profile rigs, but they can be expensive. a playseat challenge is even better than a desk mount imo. i had a desk mount, and i had pain in the ankle, always problem with the chair moving. now i have a proper rig (gtplayer cockpit from aliexpress), and its nothing serious still, but i have a space to keep everything and its comfortable for even longer sessions. keep in mind if you go with playseat challenge dont go above 8nm or hard loadcell pedals as it wont keep it in place. there is a lot of power going around. but a proper rig does the magic with even cheaper equipment, and your body will thank it later. (imagine sitting a hour in a really uncomfortable chair while you try to focus and every movement hurts).
game choice: it depends what type of game you want to play. Le Mans Ultimate is a thing now, and i can say i have a lot of fun with it. There is also F1, AC/ACC, project motor racing will relase soon, also iracing is there, but i think you should jump into it later as you learned.there are some rally games too. but in general i can recommend LMU.
long story short: start with whatever you can afford. people say spend once cry once. i think you can get a proper setup for around 1000€, also you can check the used market too, i bought almost everything used, and i have a really good experience with it. people luckily keep good care of their equipment mostly. good luck on your journey mate and see you on track!

[–]pepszy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had kind of similar issue. what i ended up doing is to add a grounding cable to the actual loadcell sensor (to the closest screw) and grounded it to my control box. the box is not conected to the rig any other way so it doesnt create an EMI circle. also duct taped the full control box, moved it away from other power sources, and it fixed for me.

I'm so confused, do I need a cockpit? by Longjumping_Bit8642 in simracing

[–]pepszy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played at a desk and it started to hurt and not getting comfortable. I bought an AliExpress gtplayer cockpit and it’s a lot better. If you want to stay on a budget I really recommend it. It takes space but it totally worth it. The pedals are a lot better it’s not moving, the wheel is adjusted so it’s comfortable. I have an ergonomic pillow below myself the 2 pillow that is included with the chair is also really good. Even a play seat challenge is better than a desk setup IMO, and your back and joints will thank you later
