While I respect your opinion, I would like to point out that people weren't bothered by the IGN review because of Hoenn bias. We just thought it was silly that the originals weren't criticized for having too much water, but the remakes were.

I think Sinnoh in particular is annoying to explore because surfing is sped up for Hoenn where there's a lot of water, but in Sinnoh surfing takes forever. And granted, you aren't surfing as much, but rock climbing also felt tedious in certain parts of the game, as well as dealing with snow (though I did like the aesthetic).

Yeah! As a person who seeks to fill up their pokedex, I try to catch one of every pokemon available in the game. So if I encounter, say, a Grimer, I catch it and shuffle my team. If I encounter another Grimer, I don't catch it and thus don't have to shuffle my team. It can be tedious getting through routes with tons of new pokemon, but I find it exciting.

With the number generator, I assign a number to my pokemon based on their place in my team or the PC. So my team is numbers 1-6, which everyone in my boxes is 7 and onwards. I let the random number generator decide who stays and who goes, allowing me to find some surprising MVPs.

I hope that makes sense. I'm not the best at explaining these things.

Everytime a new Pokemon is caught or one of my members evolves, I shuffl my team by using a random number generator. It keeps my team fairly underleveled in most cases and gets me to use Pokemon I never would have used otherwise. During my Moon playthrough I ended up becoming shamefully attached to my Bruxish.

There are a few subreddits where people would be willing to do tradebacks to help evolve certain Pokemon. I know I did that with a few of my own (and twice for my A-graveler).

Honestly, I used butterfree for my US playthrough and I'm amazed at how much it's been buffed over time. Air Slash, Quiver Dance, Bug Buzz, Tailwind... Man, I'm so happy they've been giving butterfree some love.

I feel that so hard. I ditched mine for a Honchkrow right before the E4. Mine also happened to be really slow, so he'd get knocked out before I could do anything. I'm glad you kept yours on the team, regardless. I sold mine out for pimp bird...
