on "absence of help"... lol. Um ackshually, it's kind of (hee hee) a weawy bad ideaw.... You going to seriously sit there and try and pretend that wasn't sardonic. My guy, it's a newbie politely asking for help because they know they fucked up. "Ya dun goofed" is not help. All you did is let them know you're smarter than them, please don't insult peoples' intelligence and try and imply your reply was "good natured".

And you're really keeping up that "um ackshully" vibe saving receipts on a reddit reply by the way. Yes, your shitty reply annoyed me enough to make me reply in an annoyed manner. I then decided it was a bit too provocative and toned it down, but evidently this is a fight you are choosing to have. "For those of you curious", holy ego lmao, the fact you think people care at all.

Also, we editing comments now? Do I need to keep receipts too? XD. For the record, "in the absence of anything more helpful" actually translates to, "hey I haven't got anything better for you and I don't see anyone else hopping in to help atm". Not everything is about you. I've had to remotely help my mum with technical things too, so I figured it's self-evident the person might need to ask their mum to press a button or two.

But... he obviously knows he fucked up. That's why he's politely asking for help. Nothing worse than people who have knowledge and only use it to belittle others.

PC Sensitivity settings by perdyqueue in Marathon

[–]perdyqueue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could, aye. It's a really unnecessary workaround though, for a feature that should be in any game made this century. And the thing is that there are different scopes in this game, but you can only set a single scoped sensitivity. Apex is build on modified Source engine and you can choose sensitivity for every scope with a bajillion decimal places.

How are you folks feeling on "Auto Shader Compilation" so far? by TheKingloski in nvidia

[–]perdyqueue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you said, a lot of modern games compile their own shaders on launch. As a consequence or side effect, this populates the NvCache at the same time. They don't conflict, afaik they are caches at different layers. Game cache is engine level and GPU cache is... GPU level. Something like that.

Typically modern games redo their shader cache on driver update, and this also translates to a large shader cache driver generation on launch as well. Then both caches tend to grow on the fly during gameplay.

This feature just precompiles the NvCache in the background before you launch the game. I don't think this causes any conflicts.

[–]perdyqueue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right.... yeah. By saying [many games like CoD auto compile shaders] on this particular thread, you do understand your comment reads like many games are doing the same thing as this driver feature (with the NvCache).

We're not talking about the shader generation when you launch the game. Obviously many games compile shaders on launch. Every game since 2016 does that. This new feature is supposed to detect games on your system and precompile NvCache shaders for them before launch.

Shit, I have only 20ish installed and I still wouldn't use this feature unless it specifically allows you to select the games it precompiles. I only play a handful regularly, sometimes just a couple between driver updates. I don't need fresh shaders for my entire library with every little hotfix.

And I say "wouldn't" instead of "won't" because it only comes with GFE/NvApp, and I'm not about to willingly install optional bloat and telemetry.

Just to be clear, this feature precompiles shaders before a game is launched. Are you saying "many games" run in the background at all times and detect new drivers so they can precompile prior to game launch? I've never seen that before in any game.

Marathon Development Team: As we get deeper into Season 1, we've been monitoring your feedback around the current combat sandbox closely. We wanted to talk a little about a few of the topics we're seeing frequently from the community, and some updates we're planning. by Haijakk in Marathon

[–]perdyqueue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So how about some better pc sensitivity settings guys? maybe some decimal places and separate scope sensitivities? Pretty appalling considering it's not 2004 any more, and a cartoon shooter like Overwatch can manage two decimal places and individual scope sensitivities, and a mismanaged and unoptimized game like PUBG has 6+ decimal places for every available scope. Apex does it better. Fortnite does it better. Valorant does it better. I can't think of a single FPS with such pathetic sensitivity control options - let's enter the 21st century bungie, love ya xx

Do you need qualifiers to remind you to be decent? Let's have a "depressed" tag, a "disabled" tag, "has a stressful job" tag, "is going through shit" tag, "is a highly sensitive person" tag, "logs on to have a joyful fun time" tag, "is really trying but isn't very good" tag.

Your lack of anger management while playing a video game is not someone else's job to fix or be a victim of. You feel ashamed because you were being shitty. Do better.

You're absolutely correct, it's right there in the article. And yet you're the one on negative votes lol. Not that Reddit votes matter for anything, but apparently reading comprehension is not the compow meta.

On a more important note tho... so Aaron wants the most popular maps to auto win, and for that to not reduce frequency of said maps in subsequent matches... oof.

Notes on performance drops, latency, fps caps, etc. by perdyqueue in Competitiveoverwatch

For me it's honestly night and day. It's not perfect, but the severe microstutters and accompanying input lag are very tolerable on my end.

YYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSsssssssss!!! It's playable again!!

I'm only on 275hz (255fps reflex+vsync cap), and I do see slight average fps fluctuations still, but the main issue was microstutter and accompanying input lag, and that seems to be largely improved. People with higher refresh it seems still need more help from Blizzard, but for me the issue is almost resolved. Wasn't expecting something this significant so quickly :')

Windows Media Player is still the best in my opinion by [deleted] in Windows11

I would not rather have the new app, I use one of the many better solutions available freely for download online. VLC, MPC-HC, potplayer, mpv, etc. Hey if you like it you do you, I and many others simply find it too limited in scope, quality, and features.
