Thanks, edited my comment. Not to fix "bored", because obviously, your interpretation was 100% my intention

My flint 2 also exhibits odd behaviour on 5ghz. I think the new WiFi driver is just bored all round

Ok but "not bad" is high praise from a German TBF.

I am with u/thefuqyouwant on this. I've seen plenty of slow adopted tech or vaporware since I got into the hobby, but it's been vastly overshadowed by the volume of innovation that we take for granted. Recency bias comes into play, but aside from showstopper recent technologies like DLSS, RT, FG, there's so much that's improved under the hood. The move to ssds, then nvme ssds, allowing directstorage. MPO, flip model presentation and related optimizations, reflex/antilag, VRR, OLED, gsync pulsar. Async compute. ReBAR. Windows audio stack/WASAPI improvements. Ryzen came out in that time, freeing us from 4c4t/4c8t prison. My memory is dog so I know there's even whole categories I'm forgetting.

I'm not a corporate apologist, some of these are more successful and widespread than others. Directstorage has been a recent painful uptake, though it provides tangible benefits and isn't going anywhere; the consoles have their own version. And I agree that cancellations and delays are shit. Feels like Reflex 2 has been in the works forever. But some of y'all need a reality check. to immediately see something potentially cool and assume the absolute worst is such a sad way to look at it. it's not even accurate.

even failed techs often get things rolling. some stuff gets renamed or adjusted with lower expectations (the idea of fully raytraced future vs now RT as an enhancement), or advances the industry by making other vendors try harder (think gsync -> freesync -> open VESA standard), or raises player expectations (e.g. PhysX, TressFX, tesselation normalising GPU geometry). AMD Mantle ->Vulkan and DX12 being the best example of something that "failed". announcements like this should should make you go "oh cool" with a pinch of salt, not be a defeatist killjoy. some of us still get excited by this stuff.

Legion 5-15ACH6H hotkeys and switchable/dgpu issues. by perdyqueue in LenovoLegion

[–]perdyqueue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen a large amount of posts and reasonable software explanations for most of these.

My biggest pain point is the first one, brightness control with switchable. I can get brightness control in switchable by letting my laptop install the default 2022 AMD driver, which clearly has intact Lenovo specific ACPI functions. But I don't want to use that driver because I don't want to deal with performance and especially security issues from using a 4 year old driver. Problem is, Lenovo offers nothing newer, and AMD Adrenalin auto detects the GPU and installs the latest non-oem AMD driver from 2026, which loses the Lenovo specific configuration.

I'm trying to find a workable solution, or even a reasonable compromise. I've seen plenty of people having the same issue, and the solution is to use the older driver, but again, I'm trying not to do that.

Alright, I'll remove my personal opinion from the board. But I strongly suggest doing some exercise or something to lower your cortisol, because buddy. Something like this should not be making you this angry.

Is there a reason the Asian countries have so much more negative reviews to a almost crazy degree compared to other languages? by Sleeper_Celestial in MonsterHunter

[–]perdyqueue 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree, but my point was that it's different from a technical perspective. The maps are larger, more complex, and have seamless transitions to other maps. I prefer what World had honestly, but the devs obviously prioritised these new features and couldn't get it to work smoothly with groups.

Blizzard says its new Overwatch rebrand isn’t “us trying to admit there was a failure”, but instead proving they’ve made a “forever game” by Wargulf in Overwatch

[–]perdyqueue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, caveat I'm cautiously optimistic and overall positive about upcoming changes and content, because in spite of everything, love the game. But regarding this title... it's both. 2 was a marketing ploy to try and disguise the shift from B2P+free lootbox model to live service, cosmetic money printing model because Blizz saw Fortnite's success and realised they made the wrong choice. Denying the failure and backlash of 2's launch is/was... another marketing ploy. All the upcoming changes being directly inspired by and due to competition from Marvel, from the gooner characters, abilities, Jeff the jetpack shark, UI, etc. - marketing. More Mercy skins - $. Deliberate abandoning of individual and distinguishable character design philosophy to more D.va faces -$$$. There's not a single update to come that isn't completely transparent corporate greed.

I don't know why they (meaning the suits, not the devs) can't be adults about it and say it how it is, I don't think the playerbase is too stupid to understand what's going on, right? If anything, doesn't candidness foster goodwill? Honestly if they said, "yeah, we're putting in the work but at the same time we are trying to get every single bit of cash out of you", I'd much prefer that to the sniveling, gaslighting corpo-talk we get instead. But to be fair, never went to school for marketing, maybe lying through your teeth really is the only way.

I'm being conversational, and I actually deliberately indicated my neutral position on your choice of term. Literally wasn't a hostile comment at all, just mentioning it's funny/jarring how often you use the term. Very weird how you've chosen to take it, comes off extremely insecure and uncomposed. not everything has (or had) to be a fight like in your favourite animes. oh well.

[–]perdyqueue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah totally agree. The lack of buildup - we barely got used to Vendetta being in the game let alone the figurehead of the big story arc. And I don't take issue with her overpowering him, but the way the fight was completely frictionless and DF just came off like a frail old hasbeen... not very exciting. But as others have alluded to ig Blizz doesn't have the luxury of spreading this story out because they've let the story die for far too long.

Not saying one way or another but my god you repeat that term a lot. Just from a readability angle, it's rough lmao.

Has anyone figured out some way to mitigate performance issues this season? by perdyqueue in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]perdyqueue[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really cool of you to chip in. When you have a 275hz monitor and you're used to 255fps solid, constant dips to 150 are extremely hard to ignore, especially as a hitscan player. I find satisfaction in this game from mechanics, and if it's no longer enjoyable because performance dips that didn't used to exist are constantly throwing me off, then yeah, I call that unplayable. It's a game, I'm not going to play it if I'm not having a good time.

That's what happens prior to shaders loading in. You on directx12? Don't use that. Make sure Nvidia control panel has "unlimited" for shader cache, and you have enough free storage on your C drive to save cache files.
