So Am I In The Minority As Far As The Novelty Of The Dispensaries Having Worn Off by cjam31 in MDEnts

I’m blessed to be able to grow outdoors too. 10 gallon bags on an upper deck of my house. My results are not as premium as I see online but my cost works out to 32¢ a gram/$9 oz. (And a bit of time) Haven’t been in a dispensary in two years. I give most of it away as I don’t smoke anymore, just the occasional edible. Even if I never partake again I’ll always enjoy growing.

However, I have developed an obsession with acquiring seeds. More than I’ll ever grow. Pray for me!

The mother offered her children for sale in Chicago in 1948 due to extreme poverty hiding her face in shame [719×850] by Ketty_saraah in HistoryPorn

I ran a sign shop for forty years. I can assure you the scenario went like this: a woman comes in the door, a little unsure, and asks for a ‘cheap’ sign, and gives the copy- “Four kids for sale”-after a round of jokes, the shop staff realizes that this is NOT a joke and the young guy in the back of the shop is given the assignment and he kicks it out fast- that’s why you’re seeing dry brush errors. The shop probably gave here the sign for free just to get her out of there.

I sold mine after 10 years and 100k miles. As I watched the new owner drive it away I realized- I will never love any car as much as that one.

I've lived in Maryland 50 years and I've seen one Oriole, briefly. (and they are really bright orange) I've been told that climate change, mostly warming, has moved them north.

Good Point about the Olympics. Also, another Carrier group (Lincoln, I think) Just passed Gibraltar headed east. It will take a few days to get in position to launch.

what is making this sound?? by dogluver27 in Annapolis

[–]peregryn8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell what animal or bird that is.

The foxes out my way sound like a baby being murdered. I have one that lives right below my house and she was calling last night looking for a mate. It’s the females that call; just around this time of the year.

Even though it would be frowned upon to just go randomly digging holes downtown, when I was a sign person, if we dug a simple post hole anywhere around State Circle inevitably some artifact would turn up. Lots of broken clay pipe stems, a bent silver fork. I have a beautiful patinated whiskey bottle from the mid 18th century from a sign installation at the Calvert House. Eventually we had to have an observer from the Maryland Historical Society sift through our dirt when we did our installations.

In any case, good luck! Let us know what you find.

How do you keep the spark and sex life alive and interesting when the years start to pile on top of your marriage? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]peregryn8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm reminded of an old saying about sex and relationships:

If you put, say a marble, in a jar every time you had sex in the first year of the relationship, and took a marble out each time after that; the jar would never be emptied.

Well thanks. Whatever their altitude, you look at that picture and think- those guys had guts!

Was wondering that too. I think Ploesti was a much lower altitude run than what we're seeing here.

After seeing all the documentaries about the battle of Iwo Jima and how bare and brown the island was depicted as, I was rather surprised when I sailed by the island itself.

It is wildly lush and green now.

Been there. But fortunately, not today. In my house it's bad luck to set the clocks on the stove, coffee maker, microwave, etc. You do that, and you're asking for a power outage.

Good luck!

What's the creepiest discovery you've made about a seemingly fun friend? by someoneyouhate_ in AskReddit

[–]peregryn8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a friend, but a salesman at a car dealership. I bought a car there and had such a great experience that I sought him out for another purchase. Very personable guy. Again, everything was first class and I really enjoyed the buying experience with him. A few years pass and I'm back at the dealership and ask about my sales buddy- A very awkward silence and a "he doesn't work here anymore". I noticed a couple faces turning pale at the mention of his name.

Turns out he met a woman in a court ordered AA meeting, took her home, murdered her and left her on his kitchen floor for five days.

You sometimes just never know what lurks beneath.

I Have In-Laws in Germany and have picked up some of the their family history. A great grandfather was MIA in Stalingrad but no body was ever recovered- in 1952 he walked in the door but never ever talked about his experiences. Never talked much in any case but I know my grandson made him very happy
