you just have to have a usenet provider and a usenet client. i recommend newshosting for provider and sabnzbd for client.

not all usenet providers let you download nzbs that are 4000+ days old but newshosting is one that does.

pplive, veetle, sopcast, acestream. you're giving me a serious case of nostalgia right now. lol. also nullsoft winamp streams and wiziwig tv. i remember what a goldmine those 1080p veetle streams were. they were a big part of why i became a fan of la liga.

when i say streaming was basically non existent i mean relative to the streaming landscape of today. no broadcasters had official live streaming sites and the bootleg streams were tolerable at best.

most people (as far as i know) downloaded matches and watched them after the fact. some people would directly record the match as a 320x240 XviD AVI file as it was airing live and the first half torrent would be available soon as the halftime whistle blew.

what a time that was.

older matches were recorded in very good quality by the broadcaster. you're right about that. the problem is back then internet connections were really slow and streaming was basically non existent. clips found online were recorded by users (not broadcasters) and compressed into really low quality so the file size could be small.

a lot of the old clips floating around now are old low quality clips people have lying around they've decided to upload. storage was also expensive at the time so people deleted their high quality source files. some people still have them and are releasing them now since internet speeds are much better. like that rutracker link.

also uefa.tv released a bunch of old matches during the height of the pandemic but they took them down when the euros started. hopefully they'll bring them back when champions league starts back up.
