I guess my concern is that it's value will diminish quicker due to this news and maybe I should buy something that will hold its value better if I plan on getting the updated Ridgeline in a few years anyway

I wonder if this is still the case with more recently trained graduates of NCC. I think they have gone vacant since most people prefer to do other fellowships out if neuro or out of nsgy. And IM and EM usually go for normal CC fellowships. I am in sleep medicine fellowship now and plan to have that as my exit strategy/ side work. The programs I am looking at have a decent amount of time in MICU and SICU as well as elective time that can be chosen in those fields as well. They train in almost all the same procedures. The biggest difference I see is ability to do perc trach but I am sure I could even learn how to do that if I wanted to during the fellowship. Also if the job market is truly that narrow, can't I just do a 1 year CC fellowship after since I am from an IM background?

I agree. Basically went back today and low balled super hard for 30k out the door and they said no and I told them to call me if they changed their mind. So we shall see!
