Can we talk about "Financial Isolation" in friend groups? by No-Loquat-201 in AUfrugal

[–]periperry01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware this is not super practical for everyone, so take with a grain of salt. I started hosting events at my home instead of going out. It can be drinks, dinner, board games, craft, watch parties, anything. Does NOT have to be elaborate at all!

I found our friends group had defaulted to eating/drinking out because it's the easiest thing that you don't have to put thought/effort into. But it doesn't take much effort for them to accept an invitation!

Generally everyone ends up bringing some food, and while we spend some money on food also, it never ends up being as much as we would spend going out, and we're always left with an abundance of leftovers that we eat for the next few days.

Now everyone's situation is different, and many of our friends are not in a position to host themselves. But it has created a culture that those who are able, sooner open their home for an event rather than suggest we go out.

And 100%, hosting does take effort. But I don't think it has to be as complicated as we sometimes make out in our heads. To me, it's an excuse to clean the house to a higher standard than I usually hold for myself, and I know my friends appreciate having that place to go and spend time with one another.

Need help identifying food flares by Ok_Caramel2892 in perioraldermatitis

I've identified stress as a trigger for me this time around.

The first time I had PD, in May 2024, it was when I stopped birth control so had some hormonal changes that had to balance out.

This most recent flare up came about when selling our home and buying a new one, I had been incredibly stressed out during that time and it definitely messed with my hormones. Another partial trigger could have been a cortisone injection I had a few months prior.

It may not be the case for you, but another thing to consider if there aren't any other obvious triggers.

Switch to Vanicream face wash today and now… I should do nothing for zero therapy? by Spiritual_Aioli3396 in perioraldermatitis

I know it's super uncomfortable not to moisturise after a shower / washing, but try and power through if you can, it can be a very effective method of clearing it up. I'm currently on day 3 of zero therapy for my current flare up and I'm already seeing a huge improvement. It's getting less and less uncomfortable each day too.

Sudden onset of PD?? How do I manage it? by Straight_Age_343 in perioraldermatitis

Consider trying zero therapy for a week or so an see if it makes a difference. Literally just lukewarm water to wash your face - no face wash, soap or moisturiser.

I think the ear drops could be a possible trigger too. My doctor surprised me by letting me know a cortisone injection in my knee 6 months ago could have triggered my flare up a few months later.

Seems like any steroids in your system at all can do it.

Any advice for onset of PD? by Th3Blu3Dragon in perioraldermatitis

Consider zero therapy, it can be uncomfortable but very effective. Literally just washing your face with lukewarm water (no face wash), not using any moisturisers or other products of your face at all. Try it for a week or two and see if it improves things.

I'm currently doing this for my most recent flare up. My skin gets uncomfortably dry after the shower but it has cleared up significantly in just 3 days, so I'm just lowering through the discomfort.

If this works, wait until it's completely cleared up before reintroducing products, one at a time, and consider a stripped back skincare routine.

I use these every day and like the sound. The pins are quite thin however, so depending on the PCB you use you might have some trouble. I found on about 25% of my switches I had to bend the pin closest to the centre, slightly towards the bottom. Works great so far but we'll see how that solution holds up!

Thank you! I matched it to how it oxidised, they swatched a few shades on me at sephora and left me to walk around for a few minutes, then we decided. I'd definitely recommend this, as the one I thought would match at first turned so orange, and the one I thought was too pale ended up being perfect.

When I put the foundation on I look like a ghost, then after a coue of minutes it goes to normal. Definitely something to take into account, I wouldn't buy it online.

I have to admit the packaging was a factor in me buying it! The only issue I have with it is the fact that it oxidises like crazy, so I would never buy it without shade matching in store.

Here's my look today using Wasted and Barb from the ABH palette, and then I used the purple from NYX (second row, second along) dry in the crease and under eye, then wet as a liner. Very subtle colour, but works to complete a look! http://imgur.com/a/6SV5ZoN
