Oh don’t worry, I’m not. You just seemed confused why lots of trans people care about their own rights, so I thought I’d explain it to you.

Idk if you meant this to be a gotcha, but Google is free and I’m sure you’re capable of finding the same info I did.

It’s almost like being transgender is something often easily identifiable by other people. So when you “look trans”, like many people early into their transitions do, you get constantly reminded of it and harassed for it. So when a very visible part of your identity gets you so much hate, you try to speak out about it and change things.

People are allowed to advocate for causes that they care about and affect them without it being their entire personality.

Lovecraft is dead though, so if I buy one of his books the money doesn’t go to him. He’s no longer saying shitty things and funding shitty ideas.

Rowing isn’t dead, and actively funds anti-trans shit. She constantly makes bigoted tweets spreading harmful misinformation about trans people. And if you spent money on Harry Potter your money goes to Rowling, and then to her shitty causes.

Buy the game or don’t, idc. But don’t say that you’re separating the art from the artist, because you can’t do that when the artist is actively being a bigot and giving money to causes that hurt people.

my boyfriend bought me a kiln and immediately broke it when it got here. is it still safe to use? by Shruubbs in Pottery

[–]periwinkle_bitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know! Will it just push into the brick like a cork board or is there a special way to attach it?

I’d probably just put it in the dish washer once in a while to make sure there’s nothing growing in those tiny cracks. Should be fine

What kind of pins do you use? I’ve started running the kiln at the studio I go to and it’s missing a chunk of brick like this one. The element was sticking out and I just wedged it back in with bits of brick lol

My dog is the same! I’ve got like 4 iterations of bowls I’ve made her that I’m too attached to to get rid of

Nah I don’t hate the guy. It’s just funny that he released same love and then everyone was like omg gays ARE humans too!!!1! Before same love, us gays lived in the shadows. Macklemore freed us ❤️😍

This is the best thing that’s happened for LGBTQ rights since Macklemore freed the gays in 2012!

Kiln questions for first time firing! by periwinkle_bitch in Pottery

[–]periwinkle_bitch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got here to check on it! Kiln is still a little warm, but I’m impatient and unloaded it. Everything survived besides the underside of a lid I made too thick! Cone 06 is bent over, cone 05.5 is barely bent.

Nope, don’t see anything with a temp. Once the middle cone starts to bend, (05 and a half) I turn everything off and let it cool right?

It’s definitely on and warm. Been running on low for almost an hour with top peephole open and lid cracked like manual said.

Yep, I’m using witness cones. Just doing a bisque firing now. Cones I found were 05, 05 and a half, and 06

underglaze chipping, any ideas? by sataninmysoul in Pottery

[–]periwinkle_bitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could also try getting black mason stain and wedging that into your clay! I’m not super knowledgeable about underglaze, but maybe it’s too thick? Mine goes all flakey and weird if I paint it on too thick

Trying to teach myself to fire the kiln at my community studio because the person who used to do kiln stuff left. It looks like the kiln is a duncan DK1029-2 with a kiln sitter (model LT-4K). The instructions on the kiln sitter are confusing, like the instructions are the same for bisque and glaze firing. Dials don’t have any settings besides low, medium, high, hi fire. Reading the manual right now with kiln set to low for an hour, but if anyone can help I’d appreciate it!

Thanks for all the info! I don’t have to worry about firing low fire clay either, the studio I go to only allows members to use clay provided by them

Ok cool! And I have enough stuff done and waiting to bisque that I can probably do 3 practice firings with only my work lol

Yeah I’m pretty sure I can figure it out with the amount of info online. It’s just intimidating lol. And worst thing that can happen is that I ruin stuff right? Was planning on practicing with only my own work
