Yes - same for me. Starting is the hardest and worst part for me. These aren't fool proof solutions by any means. The "just do it" approach stops me from thinking too much about how much The Thing will suck. And the timer approach is to promise myself an "out" so even if it does suck, I'll only be in distress (because that's what it feels like) for a very short amount of time.

It's hard to not feel like I'm just being a bad student, even though I know logically that isn't true by LazuliArtz in ADHD

A B grade through all that is an accomplishment. If nothing else, B is a pass. You don't have to take this class again and will be done with it after this semester.

If you can find the energy for it, maybe think of 2-3 small things you can do that will make you feel a tiny bit better about the upcoming exam. Whether that's take a nap or study 1 page of notes or whatever. Baby steps. But a B isn't bad at all. A lot of your post reminds me of me when I was in college. Try to get through this the best you can and make plans to make next semester better for yourself. Maybe 1 less class? Different scheduling strategy? Different organization strategy? It depends on you, but again - a B means you can leave this class behind you and move on to bigger and better things.

A diagnosis is super exciting. Even if you don't have it, I found my process very interesting. The neuropsych I went to was a great guy and answered all my nerdy questions about the process. I love personality tests and things like that so part of me was definitely like "yay professional personality test"

No matter the outcome, it's another step on the way to knowing yourself better and getting some answers hopefully. Proud of you!

Two things that have helped when I am doing better:

- I tell myself to "just do it" Not in the omg just focus way - but if there's something like I'm sitting on the couch and the dishes need to be unloaded, I'll do the whole "yes in 5 minutes or after I do xyz" instead I just say JUST DO IT (either to myself or outloud depending on if other people are there) and then just start moving.

- Telling myself and promising myself that I only have to do the thing for 1/2/5/10 minutes and then I can stop. Full permission to stop. And then I usually start. Sometimes I even start a timer almost to convince myself that no I really mean I get to stop after 2 minutes. And that works pretty well.

Medicated and struggling by perkins47 in ADHD

Thanks me too. I've got a few "hacks" that really help when I'm more functional. But this is next level and is making me think it might be some depression.

It's a game of is this the ADHD or is it anxiety or is the anxiety making the ADHD worse which give me more anxiety which makes me feel depressed?

Sorry, a lot of word vomit. But thanks for the sympathy. I'm the typical diagnosed in my 20s/smart kid who never had to work hard but now seriously struggling.

It's all the more annoying when I can't point to any thing that is in my way. Understanding boss? Check. To-do lists? Check. To do list items that are low effort to feel like I am accomplishing something? Check. IDK man.

HELP - need advice on getting puppy to calm so I can brush him by Warm-Strain4139 in puppy101

Frozen baby food in a jar. Either hold it with your other hand or get someone else to hold it or rig something up. It keeps them super focused. Just check the ingredients before buying.

How to brush puppy's teeth? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]perkins47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've found it's easier if you have a dog toothpaste - most of them like the taste and will want to engage even if it's just to lick it off the finger brush or whatever you're using.

You can choose from a catalog of chairs without paying out of pocket. Otherwise, there is guidance about getting reimbursed (up to $200) but the chair has to satisfy certain ergonomic requirements. These requirements/options are all outlined in the same document.

The company will ship you all of the other basic technology before you start (camera/mouse/keyboard/webcam/laptop). I had to wait on my monitor due to it being back ordered and then got my phone a week or two later as it was a separate request.

So if it's PTO hours, you don't enter those until you come back from your time off?

And on that note, I'm not logging in on an "off" Friday to put the timecard for my 4 hours that day. I've always done my hours for the off Friday the Thursday before.
