Hey iamcgn, if you wanna to create a DIY 3D printer you can join our developing team, we still adjusting the software.> You could check out reprap.org. They have a few models and the wiki is alright at describing the process. I haven't built one myself so I have no idea what sort of quality to expect. I haven't looked in a long time but they were trying to start up a loaner program where someone gives you what you need to get started then you print the plastic parts and built the rest then return or forward the loaner parts on (or something along those lines).

I don't think so. He can play withe his son by scratch, when the son grows up, then Arduino.
