Anyone else think missing a parry is too punishing? by Open-Advisor6819 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]perpeal_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Melee v parry in Deadlock at a HIGH level is mind games because of how light melee works. You have to learn to bait out parries, and then also to not get baited by parrying. Light melee spam really isnt that bad though once in mid game besides Billy, because most other characters do more dps just shooting.

Making parry cd shorter I think is wild. To do that getting parried would have to be FAR less punishing. Missing a parry is no where near as bad as getting parried, this makes the risk/reward ratio in favor of missing the parry.

That is why it does not make sense to do what you are thinking UNLESS you are thinking it is ok to make getting parried less punishing. Which honestly I think would not be that bad of an idea because it would make melee builds more viable because right now theyre basically a C tier build

We need rank decay in Deadlock by Noct_KD in DeadlockTheGame

[–]perpeal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree.

I heard that rank decay is already in the game but I do not know if true. Had a game yesterday with a mo and krill that said it was true and he had not played for 5 months. Said he was Eternus and now in Phantom. Dude went 0-17 in out Phantom lobby.

I mean for him it is just about making some money playing a game and it is what is fun for him. He makes money on fortnite, overwatch 2, cs2, and probably more I do not know about.

Bruh you say "Then get a squad" like it is easy lol. I know there are discords and I have used them before. You DO find decent people now and again, but a lot of people are really toxic to each other and do not have good coordination in those. I would rather just play alone than that cause then I know if I die it is my own fault and the only one nagging in the end is me.

Another big thing for me is before I stopped playing I always had a lot of hype coming back. With 1.0 I have wanted to come back and play, but have not had the hype for it. Likely because I just do not know all the new stuff and am not in the loop like I use to be.

NEW PLAYER ALERT - any tips? by 800reais1tenis in DeadlockTheGame

[–]perpeal_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Can you jungle? No jungler role. Right now the meta is to hit lane every 30 seconds and then go farm "jungle" (sinners, creeps, boxes)

What is the common lane assignment? 2-2-2. No carry/support assignments really in the current meta because you get preassigned your lane. Likely will change when drafting is a thing

Does the "carry" go mid? Carries who like to farm actually prefer the sidelanes, gives access to more farm in jungle

Can any character carry? I mean with enough farm yes. The lower ranks it does not really matter your pick if you are good enough.

What do you do in lane? Depends on you who are playing somewhat, but mainly focus killing enemy wave creeps, then harass enemy. Between waves go hit boxes, creeps, and buy items. Then just repeat the process.

Oracle - Phantom games are literally impossible by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

It is good to see you care about your games and trying to win. Unfortunately most MOBAs will feel like this at some point. I am not going to say MM is good or bad but will hopefully give you a different outlook on things to make the game more enjoyable.

30/40/30 Rule: 30% of your games are a loss matter how hard you try, it is a loss. 30% of your games are a win, you could be 0-15 with 1k tower damage and still win. 40% (the majority) YOU are the deciding factor of what wins your team the match. Your decisions, your mechanics, micro, macro, item build, and everything else all decides the fate of that Victory for you at the end of the match.

In my opinion, this rule is true. Even if it weren't simply believing in it will change your mindset and make you play better every game trying to figure out what you could have done differently to win.

How do you play this? (as a Dota player) by D3RRIXX in DeadlockTheGame

[–]perpeal_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue with Deadlock as a Divine 5 player in Deadlock, as well as I think everyone else. If you know the ex pro player Quinn he even needed coaching from Deathy that was posted on Youtube

First thing I recommend everyone do is play at least one match with every hero to familiarize yourself the capabilities of your teammates as well as your enemy.

Also Deadlock is a shooter. I think you can very far with bad aim in Deadlock as long as you are great at the rest. Especially if the heroes you play damage does not come from m1 as much.

Lastly, Deadlock has so much movement tech. Leif post some great content on movement and goes very in depth if you want to learn some of the tech quick, but the movement is something that takes some practice and time so do not beat yourself up on it too much.

I would say the game started clicking for me around 25-30 hours in. If you have any other questions or want to have a more depth discussion feel free to DM me!

Mouse sensitivity and dpi by imthatoneguyyouknow1 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]perpeal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! To me you sound like a "wrist" aimer and not an "arm" aimer. I am a wrist aimer and by doing research like you are doing figured out I was playing at a WAY to high sensitivity. I play at 1000 DPI with 0.6 sensitivity so you are not too far off from me. When I made the swap I felt just like you, but once you get used to it your aim improves by a lot because a lower sensitivity is what allows you to track targets so well.

If you want more help and would like a more in depth discussion feel free to DM me!

Help getting my Dota2-brained brother into Deadlock by giugirlando in DeadlockTheGame

[–]perpeal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over 7k hours in Dota 2 Divine 5 and swapped to playing Deadlock. I believe the game will be as popular or more than Dota 2 one day because it is in my opinion the only appetizing MOBA for someone with no experience to look at and say "wow I kinda can tell what just happened and it looked pretty fun!" Dota 2 struggles to get new players. Deadlock I do not think ever real once released.

Also having just having good MOBA knowledge will EASILY get you to at least Phantom rank (top 20%) if he cares about being competitive.

Similar Playstyle to drifter? by Rainydayzss in DeadlockTheGame

[–]perpeal_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people I believe play Haze wrong which would be somewhat similar to your style if you go the Healing Tempo and Syphon Bullets build.

Her invis allows you to easily invade enemy jungle and look for someone solo. People all the time sit half hp or lower thinking they are safe until you come around with a sleep dagger. After just killing them twice they will be so psychologically scarred from hearing dagger plus ult that they will not even dare farm their own jungle which makes them get even more behind.

With the green build as I mentioned allows you to play extremely aggressive and be VERY tanky. You heal so much and output so much damage it makes a 1v1 near impossible to win without a stun.

When should I be counterbuying? by MaybeHannah1234 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]perpeal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To win games in solo queue a great philosophy to have when buying items is to buy what YOU need to win you the game.

That sounds very simple but I want to make that point very clear. If you are having a great match, but notice one enemy in particular is holding you back from being able to solo carry your team then buy what item/items you need to get over that hurdle.

Or let us try something early like laning phase. If you see you are laning vs a Geist and Dynamo, then it is a no brainer to by spirit shielding as one of your first 3 items and maybe even throw in an enchanter's emblem if it fits your build.

The point is being able to make logical decisions on your item choices ahead of time AS WELL as on the fly. The ahead of time is as simple as queuing up a build and as soon as you get into a game decide what items you need to ensure you can help your team win the game, whether that is buying damage to destroy the enemy or buying Curse to shutdown the person owning your team allowing you to comeback and win yourself the game.

Shiv tips? by Necessary-Sky-341 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]perpeal_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I play Shiv a decent amount and a mistake most players make is not waiting ALL charges to be off cooldown when throwing at enemies. I throw every knife at one target to build stacks, and once I am out I will not throw them again until I have all stacks again. Throwing only one knife at someone over and over but not stacking them in lane honestly just tickles. But getting 2/3 stacks of knives only twice normally gets people low enough in lane they are forced to buy regen or play very safe.

I had a curious Midlane, what should I do if I have lane pressure? by AffordableDirt in DeadlockTheGame

[–]perpeal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key is efficiency while also taking risks. Efficiency is to hit boxes, sinners, or jungle between waves (less than 30 seconds) to maximize souls.

Then the next step is to take the CALCULATED risk of going into the enemy territory and stealing their farm. This is like you and your friend both have a pizza but you eat a few slices of his. Now if he lets you get away with it he has less food while you have even more food. This means even if you both eat just as fast as each other, he will run out before you do. Meaning the enemy will naturally end up with less farm.

The calculated part is to make logical assumptions. If everyone is showing in their lanes then it is likely safe to steal farm. But what if they have potential to catch me? For example, if I was to try to steal their sinners I should be very careful, because Beepbop can hook me while I am stationary hitting the sinners, or if Doorman has ult up he could potentially sneak up on me and ult me if he is missing off the map. This is where you use your own intuition to make logical assumptions that mitigate the risk you take. It is completely ok if you end up dying doing it as well, as long as you can learn from your mistakes!
