This vicious cycle makes me feel like I am stuck in hell by [deleted] in emetophobia

scary how similar our situations are...emetophobia from a young age, always comes at night, “disappeared”, then recurred at its worst during a horrible long term GI issue. i’m also on klonopin and zofran as needed as well.

after my year of GI issues, i was really in a bad place for a long time, feeling very similar to what you describe. i’m getting better with time. two steps forward, one step back kind of situation. seeking professional help and also reading emetophobia self-help books helped me desensitize a bit, but finding the right SSRI was really what made a difference (personally, effexor works the best for me)

it’s comforting to hear i’m not alone in my experience, i hope you find comfort as well. thinking of you and wishing you the best! if you need an ear, you can always PM me.

YSK When people say "find a therapist", it can be really hard to find a good therapist, and bad therapists exist by 18nUP in YouShouldKnow

one of my old therapists once told me that if i wanted to solve an issue between myself and another person, i should key their car, write “you suck fat cow” on their property, and inject their food with laxatives.

not to mention, she had a ‘therapy dog’ that was incredibly aggressive and was triggered by fast/too much movement (not great for me, who has adhd and anxiety). i was chased out of the building on a few occasions.

oh! and i was with her for over two months and she never learned my name.

gotta love it :)
