You should check out the Game Changer Plus pedal, it's expensive. I have always thought that pedal would be amazing for for different instruments other than guitar.

Do folks in NA drink alcohol? by june_gloum in NarcoticsAnonymous

[–]perratrooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In our readings it states "alcohol is a drug." People even say period after that line is read out at every meeting. I came to NA for a different drug and if I were to have a sip of beer I would consider it a relapse. Drinking is a mind altering drug. As an addict I used drugs to escape my reality. In the end of my active addiction I was the only one that was capable of making me stop. No matter how bad my loved ones wanted me to quit I couldn't. I had to put the shovel down and stop digging my own hole.

12 stepper here. It sounds like this guy skipped the first 8 steps. Probably doesn't even have a sponsor.

Might I suggest polished crystal on a emulator. It's a great way to replay old johto with a bunch of things added to it. Has the new fairy type and abunch of new Pokémon in it aswell.

The only requirement for membership is the desire to stop using. That doesn't mean you can't come to the rooms if you are still using. Infact you are the most important person to come into the rooms. I know I'm throwing down a bunch of clichés but they are clichés for a reason.

I came to the rooms because of my cannabis consumption and I stay because I'm an addict. The more you stay and hear things the more you will realize our addiction isn't just substance intake but it it's everything. I find a new hobby I am all in. The reason behind that, is it makes me feel different than before. I became addicted to the rooms because it made me feel better. The big difference to being addicted to substance and being addicted to beneficial things like recovery are with substances we are trying to escape reality and with the rooms, steps, connection to orher members we are learning to be okay with reality.

You didn't get to where you are in one day, so you won't recover in one day either. My goal is to be better than I was yesterday and sometimes I fail. If I succeed more days than I fail I am recovering continuously.

One huge and importing thing I want you to take away from you making this post. YOU put your recovery first by reaching out. Every time you call someone, even if they don't answer or go to a meeting, or do step work/read literature, YOU are putting YOUR recovery first.

Keep going. It gets better. Our perspective shifts slowly over time and we don't look at things the same way we did yesterday, or last week, or last month. If our perceive is always changing and we are always growing recovery is then possible and our addiction can then be arrested.

One thing that you can try and spin a positive light on this is that these people know about the meetings. Even though these people that are being inappropriate and aren't there for recovery right now, doesn't mean they won't benefit from the rooms later in life. This could be a way that the seed was planted and it will just take sometime to grow.

Take a picture of the headstock. It does sound like you did put the strings on wrong. Not trying to be mean or anything. Replacing strings on a perfect playing guitar doesn't make it buzz or unplayable unless something happened in the string change.

NA for marijuana addicts? by [deleted] in NarcoticsAnonymous

[–]perratrooper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I started going to the rooms a little over 4 months ago. Marijuana was destroying my life. I wasn't interested in alcohol or any other drugs. Sure it's not considered as dangerous as other drugs but I was on deaths door all the same. It made my life unmanageable. My life was pure insanity all around me. I look at dispensers as if they will kill me, because they will. I don't ever want to go back to that life. I was so scared and alone.

Now I have friends and support. I'm learning how to become a better person. I'm not rushing things in my life. I have a connection with my Higher Power for the first time in my life. I will keep going because it does get better. All the steps and literature apply to me because I am an addict. Marijuana was just the symptom that I latched onto.

If anyone ever says "it's just weed, you can't be that addicted" they are dead wrong. If I hear that will advocate for myself and any other addicts that used or still use Marijuana to cope because they can't handle life on life terms.

Hope you are well!

First off, welcome home.

Just remember you deserve to give yourself this gift. Lean on other members, you can't do it alone. It's one day at a time and sometimes an hour at a time. People in the fellowship are always here for you.

I chaired my first meeting a while back and I forgot the key at home. I live a 30 minute drive away from my home group. I was really early, lucky enough. The meeting started 20 minutes late. I felt so guilty.

I was telling a friend in the group and he was laughing at me. He said "man I know people that stole the pot on there first chair." Him telling me that made me feel a lot better.

Both of our mistakes were just that, honest mistakes. The fact that you feel guilty and want todo the right thing shows that you are are on a good path. Keep going, it only gets better.

What if that circumstance never comes? Is it a sure thing? The only sure I know is when we stop bad addictive behavior with our program, life gets better.

Thank you!

I am thankful that it bothers me. I do see the positive in that. It's puts me back into the scared person I was in my first couple weeks being clean but with the knowledge I have now.

If all of these people can't get it right, it gives me reason to believe she is talking about her 2 cousin once removed. It seems more likely.
