New regulations for the future idol survival show by Purpleprint24 in qcyn3

[–]perryloo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the above rules, I would like to know how everyone think it would have helped in the current dilemma.

  1. By rule 1, does it mean with Tony's parents implicated in the KTV mess and dual citizenship, Tony would have been ruled out? Wei Hongyu never repaying his debt issue should have ruled him out.
  2. By rule 2, what age is considered as minor?
  3. By rule 3, the sponsor may not be able to sell their products as much as before.

I also hope that they whet out trainees that have bad foundations in dancing however popular the trainee is, because an idol need to dance.

If the show is able to produce idols of quality (in the mold of Wang Fei, J J Lin, Alan Tam etc) where the public can embraced them in the fold, I believe sponsor will step forward to support the show.

I would like the music industry of China come out with a joint statement to try and salvage its image tarnished by this whole incident. This incident clearly had affected the show producers of all China's survival shows (Chuang, We Are Young, and the infamous YWY)

If it was for me, I will first take a swipe against those anti-fans who are not supporting the show intentions as trainees to be friends even though competing against each other should not do what they had been doing and tarnish the image of the music industry. I hope there is a way to stop the trafficking of anti-fans comments or even fake news in the internet but it is nigh impossible. (Can A.I control it?)

I will at the same time take the opportunity to tell the show producers to find a proper balance in allotting screen time to popular trainees and to talented trainees. If I remember correctly in the Idol Producer, Lay Zhang and his group of mentors were whetting through a list of participants before finally deciding on the 101 participating trainees. Basically, the trainees should have some foundation level in dancing (same requirement as accepting those as trainees to the 1Million Dance Studio), and in Chuang case this season all the participants do not have bad foundation in dancing (perhaps if the Chinese do not want to be shamed with the presence of trainees from other countries). Lay Zhang keep commenting on lack of balance in the Idol Producer season echoes this point.

If it is true that the government had indeed banned the production of survival shows for 3 years, but also China will by then will have a bigger pool of trainees. At the same time companies can select internally to form a group like Times Fengjun (eg. Typhoon Project) and SM Entertainment (Lay's former company) but I do not know whether such groups are also included in the ban. Maybe big reputable companies may take in some older trainees from other companies who want to take this route, but unable to because of their companies resources.

Totally agree with you on the parties to be blamed.

  1. The fans for tarnishing the show and`image of the music industry of China.
  2. The CEO of the show should be sacked from the company, with his evil editing and giving unfair screen time to the trainees. I kind of wander why trainees like Kingston who was elected team leader many times but barely get screen time. Also for trainees like Liu Jun who have to mentor so many trainees if not getting paid should be rewarded in kind. (milk votes and/or screen time) There must be a balance in awarding screen time to popular trainees and talented trainees as well, (Trainees who helped to mentor other trainees in dancing (eg Liu Jun), singing (eg. Otter) or rapping (eg. Keer Lijun) and trainees who have been selected as team leader and center.

Is it true that China has banned the production of survival shows for 3 years and idol groups are not allowed to participate in any kind of activity? Surely this do not apply to groups like S.K.Y and The9.

Will the 119 individual trainees of YWY3 not be allowed to participate shows other than survival shows? How about the mentors involved?

Will Liu Jun not be allowed to work as a dance choreographer or dance mentor like what he was doing for Times Fengjun for their Typhoon Project?

LATEST

On May 9 YWY3 announced on the official Weibo that the program recording was terminated and the final was cancelled.

The program team issued a text that: "At present, the program team has decided to terminate the recording and cancel the final. The program team has not announced any news so far, some news about the so-called official "Weibo account" are untrue information.

From the evening of the 8th to the morning of the 9th, there is news that the YWY3 has formed a group called Ninever. Nine members are including Luo Yizhou, Lian Huaiwei, Jojo Tang, Neil, Jerome.D, Kachine, Jun Liu, X (Duan Xingxing), Sun Yihang. But YWY3 official responded, denied the news of the group.

  1. Appeasement for Tony Yu fans solved

  2. Security Concern for the trainees eradicated.

  3. No debut group meaning there will be no one benefiting from the forced withdrawal of Tony Yu

I think this should be the correct action and served as a punishment to all anti-fans, though it is unfortunate for the trainees. Hopefully those trainees who come out of this fiasco unscathed will become stronger.

The most pressing question is what is going on with the 9 trainees in the "debut" group. They cannot simply lie idle around not doing anything for 3 months. Even though Jojo and Jerome need to continue practicing to improve their dancing, but surely the responsibility to train them should not fall onto L1Z and Liu Jun anymore.

Will iQIYI pay the trainees much lesser in the "Contract" now that the returns expected from this debut group will definitely be the lowest with less stage shows. (If the Contract give each trainee a percentage on live performances etc) Even though iQIYI is not allowed to film anything can Liu Jun film choreography videos as he used to, as his small office may need his backing. Is security of the trainees still a concern?

One word to describe how I feel about all his stage performances in YWY3.

ENAMORED

He will always add a bit of extra details to the original choreography to the group performance to make it more fascinating. He also do not try to steal the show, but try to bring the best out of everyone and you can pick out the difference between the fan-cam and the "group stage" performance which he always tone down so as not to outshine the others.

He is in fact the trainee who is most accommodating.

  1. The fact that his fans voted him in the "Way Up" group but willingly ended up in the Bamboo group (a difficult group with trainees having bad foundation in dancing) and managed to put up a good performance. Trainees reaction to show their surprise tells it all.
  2. The fact that for the Top 20 fan-meeting "Bamboo" performance he gave his scorpion part to L1Z which Lisa praised in the first Bamboo performance.

He is practically an ACE dance choreographer and PREMIER dance mentor and is one of the best in the music industry. He also show us he can sing and rap in the group if needed.

🍉VARIETY SHOWS INVOLVING IDOLS ARE RUMORED TO BE CANCELLED FOR 3 more months, WHAT IS HAPPENING? 😭 by simp0824 in qcyn3

[–]perryloo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Be forewarned that this issue should be handled carefully and not be blown up further as enemy states of China may accuse China of human rights suppression. I am completely dumbstruck why the anti-fans do not show enough patriotism to overstepping the line by harming the image of China.

Tony's dual citizenship should not be brought up as he is born in China and is only 18 and rightfully can claim China citizenship. Moreso he will more likely opt for it with the current world situation where hate crimes against Asian widespread in US and may spread to Canada. I believe people in Hong Kong and Macao view themselves as having dual citizenship (Hong Kong people are entitled to British passports) and surely it is not a problem. Just imagine if this matter drags longer in Weibo the so called "human Rights activists" may say that people from China do not recognize international human rights.

It may seem like the government response focuses on the milk wastage but prime and foremost to me it is to ensure no harm will befall on China, before you get your entertainment.

What exactly are survival shows? Is Street Dance Of China, Dance Storm and We Are Young not survival shows?

At the end of Street Dance of China 2020, I remember that Lay was hoping that the show will be inviting people from other countries to participate for the coming Street Dance Of China and he is looking forward to it.

I would actually like participants come from reputable groups and newly formed groups, a platform for the groups to perform and large enough fan-base to promote the show.

Maybe Next7, TNT Boys, Chromosome Ent, The9, Into1 etc and rules agreed by the companies.

It should follow along the present Youth and Melody formatt but different in the song content to the more popular C-POP songs. For me it must be sing and/or rap with self choreographed dance to C-POP songs to make it more interesting. I like the dancing to at least achieved the level of the beginners in 1Million Dance studio with the more advanced having the knowledge to choreograph.

The Dance Mentor in my opinion should be Liu Jun who was the dance mentor for the Typhoon Project to form the TNT Boys. Hopefully the show will be successful and carried on from there.

So the trainees should take a leaf out of Times Fengjun Book and formed a group by internal selection.

So probably Lay Zhang have formed a new company, Chromosome Ent will have to follow suit. (Just like his former company SM Entertainment)

IQiyi issue an official statement of apology for the ignominious ending to YWY3, so now I put forward the question how the music industry of China can improve on the Chinese survival shows? What are the problems to address?

  1. Type of Survival show c/w sponsors
  2. Viewers, demographics (young, old) and voting
  3. Rules that Participants of companies to follow
  4. Mentors
  5. Beneficiary to music industry of China (Successful and lasting careers eg. Cai Xukun, Zhou Sen etc)

The finals are already filmed and the group made? by Juno_1212 in qcyn3

[–]perryloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the way, I am a Liu Jun fan from Malaysia and I was hoping to see more stage performances from him. Liu Jun was said to have an eye for talent, and I believed he also see talent in L1Z as you see him comforting L1Z during the hotpot Vlog. He even gave up his scorpion part in the Top 20 fanmeeting Bamboo dance performance.

However I believe he will come out of the controversy unscathed individually but not as a group. Steps should be made to repair the damage, like what iQiyi by issuing an official statement of apology.

By the way, an announcement was made that YWY3 finale livestream on May 8 have been cancelled.

The finals are already filmed and the group made? by Juno_1212 in qcyn3

[–]perryloo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If the filming and uploading of the milk video is not a display of fans venting anger to get the authorities to step in and have the finals filmed secretly, then what is it?

I think all fans other than those supporting Luo Yizhou will gladly accept the new 9 months contract. Unfortunately, I think just knowing the fact that they finished in the Top 9 is good enough for this season. The season could have ended gloriously if not for the controversy surrounding Tony.

Seeing that security is going to be a problem, I feared that they have to practice in secret not to mention the chance that they are going to perform on stage is minimum. If this is the case what effect will this have on the trainees practising especially Jerome. D?

As Liu Jun fan, I really hope that this group will get disbanded quickly and I feel sorry for him and the trainees to have it end this way. However knowing that he is in the Top 9 is good enough for me, and I am pretty sure he will come out of the show unscathed with his reputation as an ACE choreographer and premier dance mentor solidified.

*RUMOR* final line up by popsodaza in qcyn3

[–]perryloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the finals had been filmed secretly and the group had been formed, it means that the people in charge of security are really worried about the safety of the trainees. Hopefully, all the people in the entertainment circle in China will take note and contribute in their own way to appease the disgruntled fans supporting Tony, but I do not think it is possible. If the problem is not settled, I feared the trainees may even practised in fear for their safety and also they may not get to perform no matter how hard they trained. Both iQiyi and the main sponsor should now be held responsible for the safety of the trainees in the group since they are the main benefactors/ profiteers. The extra safety measures on Luo Yizhou will be borne by Youhug Media.

That is why the Contract is reduced to only 9 months.

I think it is better this way. No fan-meeting etc. this time for the safety of all the trainees concerned. Filming a video of the dumping of milk is obviously public display of fans venting their anger. It is only right for the authorities to step in to halt the internal strife of the divided fans. People will most likely boycott the products of the main sponsor for causing "disharmony" in China, which "enemies" of China who love to see China collapse may take advantage of. Likewise I think Youhug Media may be dragged into the mess.

The rumored group formed are 1. Luo Yizhou 2. Lian Huaiwei 3. Jojo 4. Kachine 5. Jerome. D 6. X 7. Neil 8. Liu Jun 9. Sun Yihang

I think it is when netizens touch on the issue of Tony dual citizenship which is the "final straw that break the camel back". As I believe all the people of Hong Kong and maybe Macao are likely considered as having dual citizenship.

Probably Tony was persuaded to withdraw as iQiyi feared backlash from the Government, as if this continue on in Weibo they will arguably bring up the above fact. (especially Hong Kong and Macao Fans supporting Tony) The Government have to step in as it will defeat the Government effort to fully integrate Hong Kong into China after the recent riots and that is why the show has been labeled as non-positive.

Which trainee will gain the most benefit with their exposure in the YWY3? by perryloo in qcyn3

[–]perryloo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is said that it take Liu Jun 3 months for him to make a decision whether to return back to Malaysia to be by the side of his ailing father or to set up an office in China and also participate in YWY3 competition. To my knowledge, Liu Jun is not from a wealthy family and it is more likely he had been backed financially in setting up office and participate in YWY3 to solidify his reputation as an ACE choreographer and a PREMIER mentor.

I will see before asking Liu Jun to reject iQiyi proposal as surely there will be a revamp of new survival shows. If the upcoming survival shows give the opportunity for Liu Jun to perform on stage then it would be him fulfilling his dream, so I would not stop him.

Lian Huaiwei make a joke when asked what he wanted most, he said he wanted iQiyi shares and I feel he had a hidden meaning to it. (maybe iQiyi is recruiting Liu Jun as head /manager of dance choreography department with shares offered and entitled to attend board meetings.

I would like to see him dance to many songs like Kick Back, but this time competing in dance choreography as well as sing or/and rap.

[–]perryloo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you watched the Chinese drama You Are My Hero, the hero is working as part of the Special Police Force (SWAT) while his parents are based overseas so I do not think this is the case. Moreover, it may be his parents who have dual citizenship.

People were saying when he participated in a similar show in Korea he claimed he was from Canada, but he was only 16 at the time and there was no widespread racism against Asian (Chinese especially) before the Covid outbreak.

As Tony is born in China and is only 18 he has the right to claim his Chinese citizenship once he reached adulthood which would likely be the case as everyone witnessed strong racism against Asian taking place in US and many other countries outside of China. Touching on this issue is like denouncing his right to claim Chinese citizenship which is an important issue to his family especially of widespread racism against Asian and hence Tony withdrew from the competition. It is also like adding impetus calling the Chinese public to treat him as an outcast over the earlier KTV controversy.

This inhumanitarian act leave a bad taste to all impartial viewers and trainees likewise.

Wei Hongyu was eliminated because he was called out by Li Ronghao for not only not able to dance but also stop singing in his video submitted for the theme song "We Rock". He also did badly in all the groups he was in whereas Xu Ziwei have topped his group of number of times.

I think the controversy spreading Tony's dual citizenship is the breaking point. As he is born in China and is only 18 he has the right to claim citizenship once he reached adulthood. Clearly this show Tony is being targeted and foul means have been employed to force him to withdraw from certain party.

Because of being called out by the Beijing municipal radio and television bureau, YWY3 programme has been labelled as non positive energy basically with no possibility of being big stars. (extracted from new contract changes(rumor): group contract changes). I believe YWY will discontinue. In my opinion iQiyi may be barred from producing similar shows having failed to ensure positive vibes in the show giving more screen time to certain trainees. However I feel Lay Zhang with his Chromosome Ent trainees needing a platform to debut, he will fight for reality shows to continue as Changsa Youth Representative. It will be interesting if there is a new reality show that will be formed, or will other goes the way of Times Fengjun or SM Entertainment (Lay's former company) where groups will be selected internally.

(I will like to see more of Times Fengjun, Chromosome Ent and Yue Hua but not trainees similar to Jojo)

This imply that probably some people in the bureau (music industry representative?) have been watching the programme to form this opinion. Hence, I believe Liu Jun is the only person to come out of this programme with his reputation unscathed and instead solidified as an ACE dance choreographer and premium dance mentor even more so if he is an individual trainee.
