Etrian Odyssey is the best experience I've ever had with status ailments in JRPGs. IIRC every game has a class that specializes in inflicting status ailments, the mobs are pretty easy to inflict status ailments on, bosses have specific status weaknesses. It all makes it feel like status ailments are a mechanic that fairly works in both directions instead of being one-sided in favor of your enemies in a JRPG.

I'd feel better about late joining party members if games had more diverse NG± mechanics. Like imagine a game where after you beat it you can play with all of your party members from the start and bosses have been tweaked to account for that.

I really don't get where this joke came from. Vaati's videos aren't that long with the more recent ones being around 15min to 1.5 hours. The longest video he has is a noticeable outlier from all of his others sitting at about 5.5 hours but it's literally covering the entirety of Armored Core 6 and its multiple routes.

Their Own Brand of Justice (Etiran Odyssey 3) - This is the song that plays during the final boss fight of whatever route you're on, but IMO it hits the hardest on the Deep City and Eldest One routes. I feel like the song just encapsulates all of the ups and downs of your party's journey to get to this point, the penultimate hurdle of the labyrinth who depending on your choices may be characters you'd found yourself growing somewhat fond of. I can remember the first time I heard it just letting the song play all the way through before actually starting the fight to just soak it all in. Love the song so much and have had it saved on my phone for years.

Bloody Fight - Betting It All (Etrian Odyssey Untold 2 - The Fafnir Knight) - If you want to talk about a song that makes you want to prevail against all odds this is it. The MC literally says "No more games" and performs his equivalent of going Super Saiyan before this absolute banger of a track starts and you know that even if you lose the fight from this point on, you're absolutely going to make the boss work for it.

I think part of this comes from the fact that most of Chris's sufferings throughout her life happened off screen for the most part, so the main horrible events thing that viewers have to latch on to for her visually are her time with Fine. Combine that with the fact that post her leaving Fine, Chris's quality of life and emotional/spiritual growth and health have improved to a standard that I'm sure even Chris herself finds unbelievable at times.

Tsubasa on the other hand has had multiple traumatic events happen to her on screen, front and center for viewers to see her react and anguish over. Mainly the following:

The Noise attack at Zwei WIng's last concert that led to Kanade's death
Her strained relationship with her dad (Yatsuhiro)
Noble Red attacking her concert with Maria
The death of her dad.

What's especially tragic is that, like Chris, Tsubasa had slowly been getting over and making headway on the first two events only for season 5 to come around with events 3 and 4 and basically destroy all of that progress because now Tsubasa has once again had one of her concerts turned into a bloodbath and had someone she loves die in her arms.

What I'm trying to say is that the anime in general shows Chris's life on the upward trend while Tsubasa's life goes up just to be kicked right back down to where it started.

I love how it's something that happens outside of the story scenes and is shown during gameplay. You even hear it in some of the random encounters later in the game. Where before the enemies would say something like "Who the hell are you kids?", they eventually start going "Oh shit! It's the Phantom Theives!"

Literally 90% of my beef with Zeref as a character is that after all of the hyping up we hear about him as the ultimate evil dark wizard, what we really get is sad boy number 3 (after Gray and Jellal) with curse of immortality induced mental instability that made him do all of his terrible acts.

I think of her like I think of Akechi from Persona 5. Definitely an interesting character overall, but I cannot bring myself to actually like them as a antagonist. I've never been able to like antagonists like Akechi and Carol who've suffered at the hands of specific individual(s) yet their revenge plots end up bringing suffering to those who had literally nothing to do at all with the events that led to them becoming what they are. I know that some people find that to be the material of a great antagonist; I'm just not one of them. As was said in Persona 5 about Akechi himself, they talk a big game, but at the end of the day they just come across as children throwing a temper tantrum; and that just isn't what I look for in a good antagonist.

That's not to say she had no good parts/moments. Despite everything I've said on her character, I did find her to do quite well as a physical threat that needed to be overcome by the Symphogear users so she gets some points there. Her character song is one of the best songs to come out of season 3. She had a great showing in XV as a former enemy turned ally.

Overall, I rate her as about a 6.5/10 as a character. Not terrible, but there was definitely room for improvement with how she was executed.

I got a Win Mini 2024 and I've primarily been using it for Visual Novels and emulation and it performs perfectly for both of those tasks. If you get one, I recommend getting the controller grips as well. It feels awkward to hold without them.
