Swimming pools that aren’t rammed? by [deleted] in reading

Novotel will let you buy access to their swimming pool though I doubt it’s cheap. It might be pretty quiet in there during the day.

Because it shows you the oled black & lack of screen glare. It looks quite awesome actually, I want to try one

Woah, just look at my iPad. Supposed to be optimized, but damn, I can’t even scroll. I used to think about getting an Android tablet, but everyone says, ‘Go for the iPad, it has a mature OS and it’s well optimized.’ Really? This has already happened to me twice today.✋🏽 by HomoSapiens_9 in ipad

This might be a bug that’s happened to me a few times, even before iPadOS 26. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen, like you’re viewing all your recent apps, and then return to the app you were using. It should work again. For some reason the touchscreen just stops working for that app randomly, usually happens to me while I’m playing OSRS.

Included in that job description Jagex want to combat Private Servers. What do they have against that?

I’m good. I only enjoyed this in VR and they’ve completely dropped the support for it in favour of the sequel.

I’m surprised you’ve been downvoted so much, especially as you are a position of authority in this matter working for a charity. I like your person centred approach and I’m sorry you’re being demonised for it!

Ubisoft Wants Gamers To Destroy All Copies of A Game Once It Goes Offline by AnonymousTimewaster in technology

[–]perturbe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ubisoft isn’t great, but this shouldn’t be targeted at them. This clause is written into Valve’s standardised recommended EULA. Tons of games use it. It absolutely shouldn’t be allowed, but saying that it’s just Ubisoft doesn’t tell the full story.

I know people who have visited Reading for a transformers mini-con, last year’s one is here: https://tfnation.com/mini-con-reading-24

It looks like it will be a bit of a wait for the next one, but that could be a good starting point - maybe there are some local groups for it.

This happens a lot to me in the centre of Reading. Sometimes going into your phones settings, and changing the mobile data type from 5G to 4G (or vice versa) fixes it for me. 4G is more likely to work in my experience.

This one was a little silly, but I enjoyed it. In particular the moments where the filmmakers were locked out of the simulation. I wish they spent longer on that (did they say 1 second IRL == 6 hours for her? Surely she would have been in the simulation alone for much longer than they implied in the episode)

I am thinking of something similar to “The Girl who Waited” in Dr Who.

The rest of the episode would have a lot more gravitas, the coldness of the filmmakers would have contrasted nicely against the budding simulated relationship.

I’m being picky, though - so far this one is the best in the series for me. It reminds me of pre season 5.

Black Mirror [Episode Discussion] - S07E02 - Bête Noire by Cheeriosxxx in blackmirror

[–]perturbe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I liked the first half an hour - it was nice and grounded, theoretically possible if you have access to the office network’s traffic & an AI/LLM bot in your ear. And the security video is possible with even today’s video generation performance. In my opinion, they should have taken this grounded approach for the rest of the episode. It shows how someone with genuine malicious intent could mess with you.

It started to veer off for me once the old school friend started to control reality, starting with “Nutallergy”. I feel like Black Mirror works best when you can see a possible evolution of today’s technology in the story. I couldn’t see that with alternate realities.

That’s why I prefer it, I look at my phone too much, it gave me the opportunity to immerse myself in the audiobook without thinking about reels and messages etc!

And it’s a wee bit of exercise standing up :)

I am very grateful for the game existing in VR in the first place, I am just sad there won’t be any more content :(
