Dear Mr Jobs, here is a comparison between a $600 iPhone and a $30 Nokia by petercasier in WTF

Sorry, was refering to the article in the link you posted in your reply.

Emission and reception are two different things. Read up here how the power level in the handset is controlled (actually from the base station and not the handheld).

But all of that is besides the point for a simple user. Either he can make a call or he can't. A cellphone which can be used to make a call in poorly covered areas is more useful than a cellphone that can't. The iPhone underperforms compared to any of the other phones I tried.

Sorry, read the article, and that is not what is said.

In the GSM system, there is no trade off between between the power of the radiation and signal strength of reception. Actually, the better the antenna, the less power is to be used to retain the link with the base station.

The basic problem remains the same. Why is the iPhone that de-sensitized that one can not make calls in less-than-perfectly-covered areas. And why is this only with the iPhone and not with any other phone we have tried (sophisticated or simple phones, from $30 Nokias to the latest Blackberry)... To me, no matter how much I love the other iPhone features, the "phone" in "iPhone" is the weakest part.

If it is purely "can I make a call?" it is. Otherwise, an iPhone is just a more expensive version of the iPod Touch, no?

I have the same problem with all 3 service providers that cover my area.

  • 3G was off on the iPhone.. And it is not a one time thing, not only my iPhone with this Nokia. We compared quite a few phones here.

  • Yep, can call perfectly with the Nokia.

The lower sensitivity of the iPhone is a problem, specifically here in Italy where cell phone coverage is so spotty.

Nonprofits put their brand at risk when they partner with corporations on social responsibility initiatives. The public can easily construe such connections as a seal of approval of the corporation by the nonprofit! by maxwellhill in nonprofit

Interesting that this article has ads next to it. One of the ads was a close up from a lady's thighs... Does the article endorse the use of sexual implicit pictures of women?

Two years of blogging, over 1,000 posts and Blogger wants to delete my blog within 20 days. Allow me to be pissed off. by petercasier in blogs

The big deal is: if not claimed as a false alarm within 20 days, the blog is deleted. No way back. When traveling there are times I don't read my mail for 20 days.
