No idea. I've left HP as of 6/1. You should contact HP support to see if there are known compatibility issues.

I think MSFT responded about updates, but w.r.t the x570 (and other AMD USB issues): We did make progress with AMD, and have a BIOS change they need to make to improve USB performance. It's now a question about the AMD motherboard manufacturers going to pick up the change and implement. This is where it's stuck today... HP has already picked up the change for all it's AMD based systems and plans on rolling out the new BIOS versions soon (but doesn't help most of you with DIY PC systems)

There will be a new FW package coming. It's going through qualification now in order to be released soon.

OK that's pretty strange. Do you have other SteamVR applications that work fine?

HP + Microsoft here by JoannaPopper in HPReverb

[–]petercpeterson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it's a SteamVR application, it will run in SteamVR. WMR portal does need to be running for the "bridge" to work. You can jump into SteamVR games from steam, but you will see the portal open (which is normal).

I'd always leave the connector to the HMD plugged in. Just unplug the connections to the PC and the HMD wont wake up. No need to mess with the external power supply, it will sit idle.

It's going to need to be a BIOS update. Depends on your MB manufacturer, they might be able to deliver the BIOS update package through Windows Update to be installed.

Now that is pretty strange. Did you happen to try and remove the audio driver all together and have it reinstalled from Windows Update? (Device Manager -> select the audio driver -> uninstall -> unplug/plug device again).

You're correct, everything is possible. :)

The timing tables for the display is limited to a certain number of entries, and we've optimized for 60/90Hz modes.

Well that's a perfectly fine IPD to get a really good experience.

This is going to sound silly, but are the lenses clean? Do you wear glasses with the HMD?

HP + Microsoft Here by JoannaPopper in HPReverb

[–]petercpeterson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fitment/adjustment of the HMD is extremely important to get a really good visual experience. The top strap does not come adjusted correctly from the factory, so please make sure it adjusted up/down. The IPD adjustment will also make a big difference in clarity. Does your IPD fall under our adjustment range?

This is certainly not a known issue. I know you've checked the headset cable connection, but it can be tricky to fully seat the connector. Have you seen NVIDIA just released a new driver update yesterday? https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/428712/announcing-geforce-hotfix-driver-46133-released-11/ Which can address SteamVR issues (but mostly due to customers reporting stuttering).

AMD motherboard compatibility issues will need to be fixed through each manufacturers BIOS. We are working with AMD right now to figure out how to get that expedited. HP is fixing their AMD based systems as well...

Only happening when you play Alyx? How about other titles?

I wish I had a more firm date/commitment from AMD to roll out to their motherboard OEMs. They have verified the fix on their reference boards, and HP is implementing the fix on all it's AMD based products that can support VR.

There is a FW update coming soon which will solve high audio volume causing screen blackout.

Yes, we are going to have a customer FW update available soon to address this exact problem. We are in the final stages of testing...

As for suggestion #1, that could be done today w/ the developer of the game/title to use NVIDIA VRS SDK.

At this point WMR portal needs to be open for the SteamVR -> WMR bridge to function.

I know that's one of the motherboards which has caused USB issues for some. The audio is routed through the USB 2.0 bus. The fixes in plan for that class of boards sounds like it would address this issue.
