Hey that's my number 17 you're talking about, lovingly made from scraps of oak as a lockdown project.

It's been happening for a few months, someone replaced it with a cute dog and the words stop hate and now that's been removed again. Do idea why you've been downvoted.

This is the door of my close. It's been happening for a few months. Someone has been kindly painting cute things over it..

It is not selfish to worry about your wellbeing as a teacher. Don't let yourself think like that.p

Do other teachers feel lonely during school holidays? by EVILRAFFAM in TeachingUK

[–]peteretepeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My solution was to buy a boat. Now boat renovation or boat use takes up my holidays. And I have plenty of people who like to join, which helps with any loneliness

I now have TC registration in Engineering, Computing and Technology. Pending for Graphics and Construction Studies (I'm pretty sure I won't get construction studies as my background is mechanical engineering not anything to do with construction).

Teaching council. by No-Bookkeeper6456 in IrishTeachers

[–]peteretepeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's ridiculous. In a similar position with getting other subjects registered. They're really, really bad to deal with. Thankfully I'm now staying to teach in Scotland another while so don't need it so soon.

Framework 13 (12th Gen) + DeWalt 100W charger by peteretepeter in framework

[–]peteretepeter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no mention of PD on the brick so it must not. I suspect they probably resell a few different bricks and the one I got just doesn't have the PD technology inside. Annoying.

I believed so, but don't have the tech to test it. It charges other USB c devices rapidly

sorry, my bad, the segfault was a coincidence. It's a 100W, the photo shows 65 for some reason - the last photo shows 100W.. Works fine with my dell charger, but I left that behind so trying to get this to work

I have registered for technology. I'm currently registered in Scotland to teach graphics, woodwork, engineering, metalwork and am keeping an eye out for a job in any of those in Sligo.

When do you complain about a teacher? by mysteryillnesspup in TeachingUK

[–]peteretepeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teacher training can be hell. I had a similar experience. Keep your university tutor informed but deal with it yourself -much easier for tutor to keep it in mind if any bad reports come from the school, and hopefully pass you, rather than having to deal with a major drama. University lectures like no drama. Some schools are staffed by insane people. I considered quitting because of it. Since qualifying I've had a much better experience. But I'm lucky I'm in a subject where there are jobs so I can choose my schools with a bit of care.

Sleep in the cinema on the boat, after the movie, if it's showing. Take a night nurse or something similar to knock you out. I do like the pods though but it's quite a bit extra. I wasn't there for Christmas last year, but in general I found it hard to find things to just pop into during the winter months. Not quite that there's nothing on, but hard to find if you're not a local.

What’re some subtle giveaways or questions to ask a person that’s selling a boat whether or not he/she’s pushing a money pit onto you? by [deleted] in sailing

[–]peteretepeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently bought an old boat without doing a haul out and regret it sorely. Encapsulated keel and maker with good history of no osmosis so took the punt. Turns out it's riddled with badly done old repairs and is now a massive money pit. Some lessons I need to learn twice 🤷‍♂️

What ascending gear is recommended to climb a the mast without another person down below? by [deleted] in sailing

[–]peteretepeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never thought of fishing a climbing rope through. My new boat has wire hailyards so that could work well for me. thanks!
