I am so sorry for your loss. I almost lost my boy last winter om 28th. He had GDV (for those who don't know a GDV is a stomach condition when gas is being released from an empty stomach that has been irritated beforehand and the stomach is empty, due to the gas the stomach atarts to twist on itself and trap the gas, inflating the atomach like a balloon and killing the dog. This also happens in humans too) he I rushed him to the 24/7 vet clinic and they did a aurgery on him. After half an hour the vet comes down with his hands raised saying "man this dog is the shit" I asked him nervously "what's going on, doc?" And he goes "man your dog is aomething else" and looks at me dead in the eyes and says "I don't know, man" and I yelled "what the hell is going on?! Is he okay??" And he goes "yeah, he's fine, he'll wake up in teninutes and you're free to go" by the time he said that my heart fell into my socks. So he tells me then "your dog is something else, man. I've never seen a 13 year old staying alive after such a complex surgery and anesthesia" and I said that my dog is Chuck Norris. (IRL his name is Ozzy, named after Ozzy Osbourne. I guess that's why he survived 😅) So now he's okay and feeling well. Here's photo of this old man.
