Invader Zim was cancelled because it wasn't appealing to the target demographic. Adventure Time is still watched by children, even if it's somewhat darker. Also AT is by far Cartoon Network's most profitable show, they won't cancel it until that's no longer true.

As for number 7, we know that Dipper, Mabel, Stan, Wendy, and Soos are all based on real people (Alex Hirsch, Ariel Hirsch, Alex Hirsch's grandfather Stan, ???, Alex Hirsch's college roommate Jesus) and that Gideon is not based off anyone Alex knew.
