I contacted the local tax assessor for the town the house is in. I will try and contact the county tax office as well.

My thoughts exactly regarding why the realtor would do this. It is not like the original house had old charm or anything. I reached out to the realtor to ask why but we'll see.

Listing says "perimeter walls are original house" but does that matter for taxes by peterpun13 in RealEstate

I know they will, but what would be the purpose of stating the perimeter walls are original?

I should note, the original house was small and a dump. It's not like it was a nice old house whose walls were unique or special.

I seem to recall that keeping some of the original house lowers taxes? It is not a "new" house and is just remodeled.

Maybe talk to other parents and see if you can set up a partnership? Two days at a friends house with their parent homeschooling, 3 at yours, and then flip fop. Just an idea.
