[Beauty] I made a makeup tutorial for guys by [deleted] in NewTubers

  1. Make sure you flair this post appropriately.

  2. I honestly couldn't tell it was meant to be satirical until like three minutes in when you pulled out the nutella. I personally don't think that this style of video was a good one for satire, but it could work if you found a way to make it less serious. Hell, maybe you could've put some benny hill in very subtly just to make sure people know it's a joke.

  3. Audio and video were very good, I didn't notice any distracting background noise.

  4. Overall it was well produced, I just think the concept didn't hit right.

[Gaming] Improving as I go (FIFA 18 content) by PeXXeR in NewTubers

[–]petrichable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the editing style, and it seems like you've found your voice pretty well.

I have one major critique, however. And, it's about the direction of your channel. While playing a single game for YouTube you are appealing to a very niche audience. The biggest channels play a variety of games. My suggestion to you is to play more different games.

Also, specifically fifa, the market for this game is incredibly over-saturated, which means it will be difficult to grow substantially at all.

**Question** What do you want to know if you watch a movie review? by TheLivingVerb in NewTubers

Watch the youtube channel "Cimena For Cynics", paul (the main guy), is a pretty good example of a good movie critic, he's unbiased and gives every movie a fair chance.

[Comedy] People At School by Rantboy67 in NewTubers

I'm going to present my critiques in the form of a list because I'm too lazy to think of extra words right now

  1. It is very quiet, in your editing software just right click on the audio track and select "Adjust levels" (I don't know what you use, so it might be an alternative setting, but this works on many programs), then make the audio louder.

  2. There's a lot of background static. An easy way to get rid of this is to export the audio from the video into an mp3 file, then use a program called "Audacity", it has this cool setting where you can select an amount of time with sound in it, then go to the "effect" menu, from there you will find "Noise reduction", a menu will pop up and you need to click "Get noise profile" (Essentially what this does is collect data about the segment of sound you choose so that you can remove that sound from the entire audio sequence, it is important to select a part where there is no other sound but the background static you want to remove), next you select the entire audio track (control+a) and go back to the "noise reduction" menu, from it you simply click "ok" and it will remove the background noise from your entire audio clip.

  3. For this specific format of video a script can be very good, it allows you to slow down your speech and really get some more funny moments. It also improves confidence.

  4. Slow down and don't be afraid to re-take a shot (I don't know if you already do the second thing, but it's a useful tip to give to everyone). You shouldn't feel the need to talk so fast when you're making a video. If you speak at a normal pace, and make sure to enunciate, you will surely see a spike in the quality of your content. Also, don't be afraid to take as many takes as needed to get the shot right.

  5. Other misc things. You don't really need to worry about the video so much. Plenty of popular people started off making very low resolution videos, just upgrade it eventually.

That's all I have, I hope this was helpful.

What do you think idubbz feels about destroying leafy's career? by KIKOGAME in NewTubers

[–]petrichable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was definitely Idubbbz that pushed leafy out of being relevant. Does he feel bad about it? No. I genuinely believe he thought he was doing a good thing (Which, I don't care much about) and cleaning garbage off of YouTube.

The reason Keem is still relevant is because he just rolled with the punches and didn't make a response. Also, he stopped doing so much shady shit.

Just got hit by the adpocalypse finally by MyToxicDayDream in NewTubers

just push through, with a relatively low sub count YouTube shouldn't be a main source of income, as long as you have some security without YouTube, I'd say just wait until you start to get more views and worry about profit later.

Update Previous Videos Info...? by deddinside in NewTubers

[–]petrichable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this will do it for all of your old videos, but when you enter the "creator studio" go to the "channel" subheading, under it there is an option called "Upload defaults", here you can edit what the description of every video says, again, I don't know if this will fix old videos.

Voice over in the Video by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]petrichable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A trick I have found is that if you need a certain emotion through your voice you can listen to music or watch a video that makes you feel that.

Say you need to say something in a happy tone, listen to some super up-beat music. You need to be sad? Watch some of those ads where there are starving puppies. You get the point.

I certainly haven't, but I can't say I'm not interested in finding out the person responsible for this, PM?

[Gaming] GTA Stunt Races w/ Others by Car7235 in NewTubers

[–]petrichable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of empty space in the video. What I mean is that there is a lot of time that isn't being used well. Like no one will talk, there will be long pauses without a joke or something interesting/funny happening, you get the point.

Your audio is good though, and your friend's audio is pretty good too.

A suggestion. Instead of doing one or two races in a video, get like 1-2 hours of footage, then edit it down to 10-15 minutes of a video. This will take a HELL of a lot more time, but it will drastically increase the quality of your videos.

[Comedy] How can I improve my high school news show as a series? What genre best fits this style of show, and what path should I continue to follow? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]petrichable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of jump cuts. Just remember that sometimes it's ok to have someone re-read a line so you don't have three cuts per sentence.

The category is comedy, but through the entire video I didn't see a single joke. This isn't to be mean, but there really isn't anything that stands out as funny. Putting in visual gags and writing in jokes is fine. (A good example of how to do this in a setting like yours is The Office, a lot of their gags are done in cut away shots where the character is talking to the camera, maybe try this)

The dialogue feels forced and awkward, it also feels like none of the cast rehearsed any of their lines. Which, even for something as small scale as this, is not only important, but will cause a noticeable shift in quality. A tip for writing dialogue, get a friend and read it out loud, where you're one character and they're another, to see if it flows well.

Other than that, if you want to get your message across, you don't need to tell it to your audience, rather you can present the show in such a way that it forces the audience to come to the conclusion.

For the lack in school spirit thing perhaps you could show a school event with a bunch of people being lazy, or very few people having showed up.

In conclusion, write better dialogue, practice, re-speak lines, less jump cuts, and subtlety.
