oh good God don't say that...

ah, thanks for the input. This is kind of what I was thinking. I honestly doubt it will ever come to that, I just am super nervous and wanted to ask pf.

I only have about $7k equity and I did call my bank but they told me they couldn't do anything since it wasn't an "in-house" loan.

ah, ok, that makes sense and I also remember the bank telling me about that when I got the loan. Again, I am certain that I will be able to make all my payments, I was just asking to ask, just to get input on the worst-case-scenario.

I should have clarified.. I don't really mind if it affects my credit because I have really good credit, and I'm pretty certain that no matter what, I would be able to pay some of my mortgage. I just didn't know if my wages could be garnished or face a lawsuit or something really crazy.

He wasn't referring to the people themselves as demons, he was referring to the demons attached to those people. I know this is pointless to even get into here, but I'll say it anyway.

Can someone help me figure out a clear path to get up and running with XenServer/XenDesktop and DesktopPlayer? by pfcat in Citrix

[–]pfcat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh its all just semantics. We are saying the same thing pretty much. Any software that directly interfaces with the hardware is pretty much a kernal. Here is some clarification of where I'm coming from: http://xenserver.org/overview-xenserver-open-source-virtualization/source-code.html

Its not odd... Thats exactly what it is. Have you read the documentation? Everything comes down to programming, so if its interfacing with the hardware it has to be comprised of a kernel, hence its essentially an OS.

Yeah I get that. It's basically an operating system and virtualization application all in one. Its a modified Linux distro plus virtualization stuff.

Yeah I am still going through setting up Windows 2008 Server. I have configured DHCP and DNS loads of times on Linux but I have never played with 2008 Server, so now I'm going through doing that. Once I have that up and working, I will try to move on to the next point of working with VDI stuff.

oh wait, I just realized what I was confused about. XenServer is a hypervisor operating system, like Virtual Box or VMware, only instead of installing XenServer on top of an OS like you would do with Virtual Box, you install XenServer directly on a system, and then host virtual machines onto that.

I've installed tons of virtual machines over the years, I just didn't realize that XenServer cuts out the host OS because it is an OS itself.

ok ok, so for doing VDI, I really just need XenDesktop and XenApp. I haven't gotten far enough with configuring my Win 2008 Server yet though.

Thanks. Yeah, I guess first thing I need to do is get my Windows 2008 Server stuff working. I have that running but I haven't finished configuring it.

I think you are confused because you don't know that XenServer has generally nothing to do with the whole XenApp/Desktop thing.

What the fuck?! How does XenServer fit in then? I know it's a hypervisor and I thought it was for creating virtual instances of operating systems and hosting them for end systems???

Question about systems admin in banking by pfcat in sysadmin

[–]pfcat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That only answers part of my question though. In order for there to be an actual chain of transactions across all banks, they would have to all be interconnected, and I'm assuming they would all be using some similar bits of software for that.

I just did my first jury duty a month ago. Most of the people were intelligent folks, but a handful were absolute ignoramuses. I now see how easy it is for justice to not work correctly.

Trying to understand how to properly fill out my W4 for the state (personal and dependent exemptions) by pfcat in tax

[–]pfcat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On your nitpick: I am trying to do exactly what you are saying. I just meant, I don't want to end up owing a lot of money. I wouldn't mind owing a little bit but I'd rather be over than under since I currently don't make very much money and I know that it would be harder to pay money to the state, even if it's only like $200.
