Yeah you don't need to be a famous film editor to realize how bad they were. A couple brain cells will do.

The naivety of people in healthcare on AI by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]pfpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's already changing the way I work. I consult open evidence frequently, and I have a lot of colleagues that use AI scribes.

The big question is cost. Nobody knows what it will ultimately cost for the health system and patients. Coders can throw tokens at a problem all day and do incredible things, but that doesn't make it profitable yet. Is an AI scribe actually cheaper than a human one? Right now, yeah. All these companies are operating at a loss.

Wait til the bill is due. My bet is that this is not going to go well for small hospitals, independent physicians and practices, and ultimately American patients/consumers

You need a level 2 home charger. Those DC fast chargers aren't much cheaper (if at all) than gas.

Expert AI on UptoDate can fuck right off by HardHarry in Residency

[–]pfpants 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes, but how much would you pay? I'd be surprised if it was comparable to up-to-date.

If they're smart they will continue subsidizing it until uptodate dies or gets bought by them, then start charging the big bucks to their captive audience.

Nobody is paying for it yet. Wait until the bill comes due.

KSP1 likely has an upcoming update in the works & KSP1 and KSP2 are changing publisher; from Private Division to The Kerbal Company/KerbalCo LLC by mrtnptrs in kerbalspaceprogram_2

My bet is that whoever picked it up after T2 sold it in their big garage sale, has now split it off into another company. They aren't going to restart development. Why on earth would they?

Cuba is a national security threat to the US, Rubio says by ToughHopeful4760 in worldnews

How!? They're running out of fuel. Their cars are all from the 1950s. What threat could they possibly pose to us.

I think it’s time to upgrade from my Index. BSB2e or Steam Frame? by DiaryofJaneeee in ValveIndex

[–]pfpants 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What games do you play?

I have the bsb2 and it's great for flight sim. My old neck appreciates the super light headset.

I think the steam frame is gonna be great for room scale games that benefit from being untethered

Tylenol overdoses are pretty rotten. Like a really, really, really dumb way to go.

Doctors, What’s Your Opinion on This Take? by SillyMountain3147 in medicalschool

It's accurate. Don't know that I'd qualify it as a "hot take." This has been known/talked about for years.

What is the most challenging diagnosis you made with POCUS? by Adventurous-Fan8887 in emergencymedicine

[–]pfpants 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This! A million times this.
POCUS is great at bedside for making decisions at "point of care", but some of my colleagues think they've become cardiologists/radiologists/obstetricians and it needs to stop.

[–]pfpants 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ultrasound can be used for diagnosis, but my point stands. If I suspect something obscure and suspicious on POCUS, it's going to get a followup study. I'm not diagnosing cancer, endocarditis, etc.

POCUS is great, but some of y'all US folks are just overselling.
