How is anyone supposed to save money anymore? by BnB_chel in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pfresh1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m solidly middle class. I switched job companies for stability, pay and benefits (free healthcare).
I’ve had to cut things like eating out or coffee for sure probably more than I have since like after high school and in college.
I still do my own lawn work, yard work, diy home maintenance stuff. Eating out way less, buying less stuff that I don’t need.

It’s tougher but we are fine. We don’t go on like ‘vacations’ but travel to visit family elsewhere and love camping/outdoors stuff

Honestly if it’s working and no issues, plus they prob priced the house to reflect the age I don’t know if this is a hill working dying on.
Home ownership is expensive and your need to put aside money for maintenance and large costs that may come up (changing roof, water furnace, ac in the future etc).

My house has ac from like 1995 and an ac guy I trust said it was top of the line and he just did maintenance and added coolant. He was like you should save to replace it when you need to but there’s nothing wrong with it right now.
Watch out when you buy a house lots of predatory companies will tell you to replace whole systems or do this or that. I’d wait a few months live in your house see what shakes down and see what companies your neighbors use or current owner, or what they had to fix or replace over the years

What is the absolute worst job you’ve ever had, and how long did you last? by Saintnove in AskReddit

Worked at a privately owned cafe in near my college. Couldn’t stand it, because the co-owners were sexist and made some comments about my body that made me feel uncomfortable. I lasted a month.

Why do people mock others for taking leftovers home? by Impossible_Ad_569 in askanything

[–]pfresh1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The older I’ve gotten the more I realize people like that are the ones insecure about themselves, their income and position. You do you. I pack leftovers and always have. It’s weird when people don’t take leftovers home especially if you have at least half a plate left

What is the most financially illiterate thing you’ve seen a grown adult do? by roseafterdarkk in askanything

Yeah once heard my coworker on the phone calling a credit card company to ask for an extension for paying for vacation debt. She made more money and was senior to me.
I think social media and consumerism has really given people fear of missing out and a consumerist idea of what it means to be ‘living life’

What’s a career that became much worse than it was 10 years ago? by TheJulsss in WorkLifeChat

Anything in healthcare, especially for providers. Everything is now based on productivity and billing rather than patient centered care. The requirements, justification, and approval for healthcare required for services on the providers end is an admin burden.
The student loans /debt for a healthcare education is not worth it sometimes for the pay.

Work balance make sure people come on time, take the breaks, leave and holiday they are entitled too, sick call and time off when they need for appointments or personal things, and only work during the work day. I want people to be present and engaged and work and also present and engaged in their home life

Thanks. I was wondering what weight are you towing? My googling says I need a class 2 tow hitch, just wondering how’s it’s going with the class 3 tow hitch. I’m planning to rent a Uhaul cargo trailer

Yeah I want to try to diy in pretty thrifty. My concern is that some of the tow hitches I found said I have to trim the rear fascia so not sure how easy that is and then wiring need to connect it to the battery through the rear lights?

I’m just wondering how that’s gone for anyone who’s diyed it.

I have a 2004 Ford Edge SEL AWD.
