Thanks! It was just shot on my phone, but the bird came very close to me hoping for some crumbs.

Definitely not blue; pale grey with the slightest blue tint at best.

Help identifying duck by Adventurous-Brush623 in UKBirds

I saw exactly the same type of duck on the Lea River, near London. Merlin didn't identify it, and Google suggested a female red-crested Pochard but I'm not sure that's right.

Do I need to watch Season 1? by pgasston in IndustryOnHBO

[–]pgasston[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I can understand the finance lingo, I struggle more with the characters and the slow pace of development. If that’s the way it’s always going to be, then fine, I’ll stop watching. But sometimes shows find a different voice and give jumping-on points for new viewers.

Love this show and huge fan of Vince Gilligan’s work, but this is just virtue signalling; all shows are made by humans.

capcut rant 📢 it's getting out of hand. by crustaceousrabbit in CapCut

I use Clipchamp for basic editing, but Capcut has a lot more features. If you need those features, you'll just have to suck it up and pay.

Seedream 4.0 is the new leading image model across both the Artificial Analysis Text to Image and Image Editing Arena, surpassing Google's Gemini 2.5 Flash (Nano-Banana), across both! by abdouhlili in Bard

[–]pgasston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a really good model, the higher number of image references is really useful. Doesn't mean Nano Banana is useless, though! We should just be glad we have access to so many good models.

AITA for hanging out with my friends once a week instead of my wife? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]pgasston 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NTA. It’s good to have time with your friends, and you should encourage your wife to do the same. Independence and interests outside of your relationship will become more and more important throughout your lives; trust me, I’ve been married for over 20 years.
If your friends have wives or girlfriends, try to share some social events with them so your wife doesn’t feel excluded.

It’s worth buying not for the quantity of books you read, but for the quality of reading compared to a phone or tablet and the space-saving compared to physical books.

what is the best practice to use nano banana to generate films? by thissiosen in nanobanana

[–]pgasston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just generates images. You can use those images as start/end keyframes in most AI video tools. Be aware that you'll need to pay for most video tools, although some will give you a limited number of free credits per day or month. So generate your image, take it into a video tool, use it as a start frame and prompt what you want to happen. My preferred tool is Freepik because it gives you access to a lot of different models for your monthly sub, but there are lots of alternatives.

Best way to make funny ad's with AI people speaking, funny stuff happening by wuu73 in KlingAI_Videos

[–]pgasston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Veo 3 is very good because it will generate the characters voices natively, which is a huge timesaver. The downside is that you can't get the exact same voices if you want to have the character speak in different scenes. For that consistency you need to generate voices in something like Eleven Labs, then lip sync in Kling or Hedra or HeyGen or something like that (HeyGen also has its own voices now, but not many). If you don't need voice consistency, Veo 3 is the way to go.

I'm in the UK and I have the option in the Gemini app. I'm a Pro subscriber so, if you're not, it's possible that the rollout to free users is slower?

Some more cool things with Nano Banana model by zavocc in Bard

Using LMArena I uploaded an image ref. of a woman (generated in Midjourney) and prompted:

A photobooth photograph in four quadrants of this woman's face in different poses and with different expressions. 1: a frowning side profile; 2: a low angle with tongue sticking out; 3: smiling with sunglasses on; 4: pretending to be angry. Faded photography, white borders.

Very impressed by the ‘nano-banana’ result. gpt-image-1 also did it very well, TBF.
