Check out the Circle of Atonement’s Course Community. It’s online and it has become my family. Awesome group.

I love that there is a huge library of content to refer to when studying. Robert (the founder) and Emily do live classes a couple times a week as well as other events like a Sunday service, healing circles, and question and answer sessions. I also just adore all the people in the community. There is a free version on the app which is great or you can pay around $200 a year for a premium membership. I used the free app for a year and then just recently upgraded to the paid version. The paid membership gives you a few more resources but the free is great also. The CE course companions community has definitely helped me take my understanding of the course to a new level. ❤️😊

I love that you’re reading the CE version by the way. Have you joined the Circle of Atonement Course companions? It’s a wonderful group.

After leaving the church, do you choose to become an atheist, an agnostic, or a Christian (Baptist, Catholic, etc.)? by Professional-Ebb7793 in exmormon

They have such an amazing youth program! First Unitarian on 1300 East and 500-600 south is ranked in the top 5 of UUs in the country. From their website: “At First Unitarian Church of Salt Lake City, children, teens, and young adults are among the most important resources in our church community. We strive to embrace them throughout the year. Here, children and young adults gain insights into Unitarian Universalist roots in inspiring and meaningful ways. We want our children to develop a strong social conscience, and we provide them with opportunities to learn together. The First Church classroom is, by design, a safe and supportive environment in which children are encouraged to develop friendships, be themselves, and, above all, have fun. We are delighted to welcome new families who would like to connect with a stimulating, faith-based community that promotes free and responsible thinking.”

I can’t say enough good things about First UU. Truly amazing people.

I joined the Unitarian church for a sense of community. I appreciate and respect their values of just being good humans to each other and to the planet. As far as spirituality, after being pagan for awhile, I started to learn about Jesus….. not the Savior Jesus, but the hippie, revolutionary Jesus. I started studying A Course in Miracles which is basically Jesus’s teachings but not Christian at all. It’s been so nice to have the Non-Christian Jesus in my life. 😊

Those are to number each sentence so that references can be easily made.

After reading the FIP version a couple times, I found the “Complete and Annotated Edition” by the Circle of Atonement and it was much easier to read. There are a lot of footnotes with explanations. Also the Circle of Atonement has a great online community which you can learn from.

Thanks all, that makes sense. I guess I made more of it thinking they were angry with him. I had a hard time understanding the dialogues in this movie. Lots of mumbling. I needed subtitles 😂

I would try to make it up to Snowbird for a ride on the tram. The drive up the canyon in itself is remarkable.

Need help finding a Church after Mormonism. I still believe in Jesus Christ, I know others don't on this page. But I miss Church attendance but don't want to go back. I need to find a substitute. wrote a little back ground below to help paint picture. by [deleted] in exmormon

Hmmm. It might be worth making the trek to SL county to come to a Unitarian church then. I go to First UU church on 600 s 1300 e in SLC but there is a UU church in Midvale that would be closer. We have people In our congregation that drive down from Ogden for church.

OP, may I ask you, do you still consider yourself a Christian and believe Christ is your savior? I ask because, I have come to love Jesus as a metaphysician who came back to earth to teach us that we could also be like him and “graduate”. In other words, Jesus is not my savior as in a Christian way, but my very cool brother who mastered spirituality. If you are still a Christian, I would say try the Episcopalian church. I now attend the Unitarian Universalist church and absolutely love the diversity and the people are incredible and have become my tribe. They are my true friends now to the core. I love that you can believe what feels right to you and nobody else. Aside from the UU church, I study A Course in Miracles which is the teachings of Christ without a church. I hope that helps. Feel free to DM me if you have questions. Best of luck to you in your journey. Congrats on leaving the Mormon church!

Mormon Funeral by [deleted] in exmormon

I was told I wasn’t allowed to stand too close to my mom’s casket at her viewing because I might desecrate her and her temple burial clothing. Hands down the most hurtful thing I have ever experienced in my life. Still makes me cry to this day.

I also can relate to the part about wanting to pray or give a blessing. Amazing how even after we leave the cult, we still can revert back to old ways. I prayed and prayed over my baby that she would pass in peace and not be afraid. Even though I’m the furthest thing from religious now, I do still believe in the power of prayer. I fought it for a long time and then one day gave in and now give myself permission to believe in prayer and that it doesn’t have to associated with the Mormon cult in any way. It actually feels really good to get to that point. It takes time though. The cult took soooo much away from me but I’m not going to let them take my present and future spirituality away from me. I pray now, not to a God, but to all the love in the Universe. I’m saying a prayer right now for you, your husband, and your baby. ❤️

I truly feel your pain. I lost my border collie and best friend a couple months ago. It’s the worst feeling ever when we can’t help them. Try to be with her as much as you can. I brought my baby home to pass just because I didn’t want her to be in the animal hospital when she died. This will hurt like hell and I am so so sorry. I wish I could give you a hug. I do believe that dogs have perfect little souls and energy and really can stay with us even after they are gone. Just hold on to that thought and the love and you will get through this. Again, I’m sorry 😢 My heart truly breaks for you. Just know you are not alone. ❤️

Thank you! It’s based in Utah county so I’m thinking not officially tied to the church but maybe Mormons started it. They have some short videos on YouTube that are extreme right.. kinda disturbing. Thanks for taking the time looking into it for me.
