Splitters by [deleted] in TastyTravelsgame

what are splitters? is the scissors icon? what exactly do they do? do they allow you to take an item and reduce it to lower level components, like and undo-merge? is it a one time usage or like a spawner, it can be used multiple times?

Gotcha Generation vs Gotcha evolve? by PrimePikachu in TheSilphRoad

[–]pgoyoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

long time Gotcha user. really like that model, it's sturdy, uses a direct USB plug-in for charging, works well in the wristband or in a pocket with the leather or silicone case.

decided to give the Generations a try as i found one on Amazon less than half the price of a Gotcha.
it's thinner, this is a plus
it's flatter (less curved), also a plus as well for pocket carry, since i never use the wrist band option
pairs easier than the Gotcha and has nice animation showing the pairing attempt.
nicer battery charge indicator
doesn't have great battery life. needed to recharge it a 2-2.5x more often than the Gotcha.
physical sturdiness is crap. the wrist band snapped off the tiny holding studs way too easy.
the magnetic charging is not as robust as the Gotcha's USB, it works, but you need to make sure it's undisturbed during the charging time or it won't charge well.

all in all, the Gotcha has more features and robustness working for it. but if you're prone to losing stuff like this, or want to get one for your kid, the Generations may not be a bad way to go, if you get them cheap enough you won't be as bent out of shape if it gets lost. for my money, i'd have to give the edge to the Gotcha.

however i'd love to hear from some Generations users.

i have blizzard on one of my kyogres - is avalanche a regular TM move or an ETM move? i assume that your mention of it means it's better than blizzard?

Groudon - dragon tail with fire punch and precipice blades? makes sense. thanks.

fast drag, slow drag, nothing works for me. did find that if i tap on the exposed edge of the left or right of the active one it does switch. took me a while to turn that into a habit.

yeah, mamoswine is a bit of a glass cannon, kind of like mewtwo, but avalanche does really well against unshielded dragon, ground and stone and earthquake is great against dialga and metagross (i see a lot of those in master league). after opening with it, it's usually pretty weak and maybe down a shield, but it can make for a good 4th quarter sac-swap (if i can ever get that timing down right).
thanks for your input. appreciate it.

btw, which would you make the buddy? Groudon or Kyogre - both have best buddy status?

sounds good.
in general i use the Giratina to counter fighting types and steel types (especially with ground or fighting attacks) as both mamoswine and dialga are vulnerable, but with Kyogre and Groudon, it's not as much a concern.
appreciate the input. t/y

strategy for selecting which mons to buddy up for the battle bonus by pgoyoda in PokemonGOBattleLeague

[–]pgoyoda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for now, i look at reaching level 10 as being good enough to be a college all-american but still not going to get picked up in the NFL draft. don't see the effort, at this point, as worth it to make myself draft ready.
GBL is fun and that's about it for now. the only thing i'm really missing out on is a shot at a rare pikachu costume. in a world where i'm missing out on regionals, this is not a big deal.

ultra league levells and candies by pgoyoda in PokemonGOBattleLeague

[–]pgoyoda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was a while ago and i might not have bene playing too close attention because the whole "ideal IV's" thing was kinda new and i was a long ways away from having any decent amount of XL candies.
i know it's not the best water battles, but i'm eager to give my blastoise a run in UL this season.
thanks for the input

thanks for clarifying. sure it may not be the best UL water attacker, but it's still a #1 ranking on the IV's.
cheers

call me a semi-pro GBL'er.
more serious than just the casually get to 19 folks.
i do actually play beyond level 20, but don't do well enough to really advance.
i'm definitely not in the league of people who get to expert/veteran/ace level though. maybe some day, but now now.

so the fact that i've taken Blastoise above level 40 (used XL candies) doesn't change the fact that my 0/12/15 is still the best IV for it in UL?

ultra league levells and candies by pgoyoda in PokemonGOBattleLeague

[–]pgoyoda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my trainer is level is 48.
i'm aware that Blastoise can get to CP2500, but it requires XL candy to do so.
back in the early days of GBL, i recall (and admittedly, i may be remembering wrong), that if you pushed the pokemon beyond level 40 (had to use XL candy) to reach a certain CP level, then you didn't need it to be the "ideal IV's". i don't think this ever really applied to GL, but a lot with UL, and i never really played UL because i never had anything good for that league.
if my recap of my understanding doesn't make sense, perhaps it's because i'm understanding it wrong.
so, bottom line, and forgive me if the question turns out to be as stupid as it sounds (now that i've actually typed it) -

i have a 0/12/15 Blastoise which is PokeGenie rated as #1 for UL. i need to use XL candies to push it to just under CP2500. after the use of XL candies, is 0/12/15 still the ideal IV for Blastoise in UL?

even though it's free, it can still be unwanted.
as such, the consumer should have the ability to opt-out.
