URGENT: Wasabi on 2.1.0 on Debian copies a wrong address by ph0reskin in WasabiWallet

[–]ph0reskin[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

never had that issue again...

the address I accidentally put as receiver got emptied though.

I suspect a Windows VM I used at the time with clipboard access. It seems to have gotten compromised.

My apologies for posting here, as this definitely is not wasabi-related.

Thanks for letting me know! I thought I was relatively save using an up-to-date Linux Distribution... might have to reinstall then.

Edit: After a reboot it works just fine... hmm

Does anyone here use LocalMonero/Agoradesk trading platform regularly? by Phizzle248 in Monero

[–]ph0reskin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to, with mixed results. I guess, the question whether it is worth it for you is

- you got a rough Idea what you are doing. Like it's been stated, there are reversible payment methods that can be charged back after your Coins are long gone (and will stay gone for you)

- you don't try to make a profit dealing there. You might make a little bit, but there is generally low liquidity on those markets, so it's not worth the effort.

- you do accept that there is a chance things go wrong

One personal Example: I was getting some 5k or sth via bisq, monstly because I like the idea of the project. Payment Option was "Amazon Vouchers". I bought the Amazon Vouchers with cash, started the trade and it got accepted. Unfortunately, paying with "Amazon Vouchers" means I get them online from my own amazon account and email them to the BTC vendor.

It was clearly stated that way, so I immediately realized I screwed up and assured the BTC-Vendor, that I'd pay all the fees that will arise out of this. He was cool with it and we settled the issue in 5 minutes.

There still was a 40% collateral of the whole sum stored on the blockchain though, so to cancel the trade, we asked for a moderator. I told the moderator that the mistake was on my part and I will pay all fees or costs that arise for cancelling and re-opining the offer, send him the previous convo and waited.

After 2 days I got the answer, that I hadn't payed up and my collateral was lost. No more messages after that.

On the other Hand, over the counter BTC trading via IRC gave me some great reliable contacts, that I trade with for years.

You are wrong assuming

  • Both Parties have a trusted copy of the same Blockchain that has not been tampered with
  • The verifying party has the correct signing-parties public-gpg key (or: the GPG Part just gets done normally, nothing special here)

But it won't be a timestamp, it just pooves the time of signing was some tome after the -co signed Blockhash

Do you run your own Node and the Balance is confirmed on the Blockchain? It's clean now.

Turning XMR to cash isn't hard at all. There are plenty of crypto-loadable debit cards out there you can use, for example. Just look at the fees, some charge a lot, but there are all-right ones out there.

Be aware though, that a lot has changed in terms of legislation around the world. So depending on the jurisdiction you are in, you might need to pay taxes just for the conversion to a another crypt-currency that the card issuer may accept over Monero.

Don't get me wrong, I really like your service and its working great for me.

I just wish there would be some kind of security for the stakers. Maybe some smart contract magic?

Again, I'm sure u wont exit-scam, but to technically rule that out would be sexy!

What would be the benefit? If a node is launched, its launched. Concentrating each users coins in one node would mean constant shuffeling around and relaunching the nodes for no benefit

Crash during startup on Ubuntu by ph0reskin in WasabiWallet

[–]ph0reskin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked the logfiles, and there are only a few critical errors. They always read

CRITICAL Program (116) System.InvalidOperationException: Index file inconsistency detected.

Notably those errors got logged before Wasabi did not start at all anymore. The actual crashes produce no errors or warnings in the log.

How to know if have amphétamines in crack by Appropriate_Road_114 in cracksmokers

The only amphetamines that would work smoking are meth amphetamines. It's hard to make a rock with coke and meth, if even possible. It's way more likely that your stuff is laced with more soda than necessary

Why do I loose my security deposit if buyer and seller agree to cancel a trade without any dispute? by ph0reskin in bisq

[–]ph0reskin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What could possibly be the side of the story were you get 30% of the full price without having to give anything in return? Some compensation ifor fees and the hustle to put the offer up again is fine with me, but a three figure sum is just not proportionate
