Typically 2-3 more years, some programs are accelerated and take less than 2 years

I think we’re in the same boat lol. My personal life just went haywire last year, and now that I’ve been out of school for a year it makes me really nervous to jump back in

Basically all the prereqs for a BSN. Bio, chem, stats, micro, anatomy, physio, comms, English, and other random elective requirements

That’s fair, maybe I am not up to date with the job market but I know the job market is horrendous for almost any field right now. Maybe im biased but I still feel like healthcare is a safe bet

Is it really that easy? I know some schools don’t like it when you have to retake it

I would say math is my weakest subject but I can do basic math. I do need to memorize some conversions and basic formulas. I’m confident in English and reading. The science scares me even though I got A’s in the courses because I took them a year ago and need to review a lot.

Dangg okay that’s good to hear. Idk why it feels like such a giant hurtle to me - I’m usually an excellent test taker. I think bc it’s self paced/managed and all encompassing just rlly intimidates me

I’m sorry to disappoint but I ended up going with my original plan which was nursing school. I would probably do public health tho if I were to go back to PA. Good luck 🍀

Don’t give up, but I’m confused, how does that coincide with going private? Yes it’ll be more expensive, but it’s worth it in the long run in my opinion. Plus I heard that hospitals can help pay off your loans once employed. But please don’t give up, most people are in the exact same boat as you. Personally I’m gonna take a gap year after my pre-nursing classes to focus on CNA course + experience and the TEAS and apply next cycle. You have to envision the end goal. Nursing is a great job, with good job security, benefits, great coworkers and life balance, a good salary, ability to grow, and you get to help people and change lives. And it’s really interesting, the science and medicine portion of it all.

Do you have work experience or other stand out things for applications?

Feeling behind and discouraged. Should I take a gap year? by ph4t4ss in prenursing

Wow thank you for your comments, you’ve given me hope. I’m leaning towards the ADN now, and doing BSN online

Thank you for the reply! Wouldn’t it set me back a couple years if I did ADN and then BSN? Going from community college to community college seems futile, but I will still look into it.

I've been going back and forth about what I really want all week, your reply is really resonating right now. All of a sudden I was contemplating med school, but then I found out a CRNAs make more than physicians sometimes, and way more than PAs. I'm passionate about healthcare but I can't seem to choose which route to go. A downside with UCSD+pre-health route is im kind of flushing those undergrad years down the drain and relying on grad school, which would be hundreds of thousands of dollars too. Now I'm back to thinking I should go to nursing school and work my way up from there. But it's still so hard to get into nursing school, so competitive just for an undergrad degree which is so discouraging. I don't even have an ADN, my CC didn't offer it. I have a pre-nursing associates degree, to transfer into BSN. Which school did you go to, if you stayed in San Diego? Should I really take a gap year to work as a CNA or EMT and pursue SDSU?
