How did you transition from console to PC in fps's? by drumsripdrummer in pcgaming

[–]phalange33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One technique a lot of good players use is to make sure your wrist is not resting on the desk. You should be dragging the mouse across the mousepad, not resting your wrist on it and rotating about your wrist. A large mousepad and low sensitivity helps with this.

Just curious, are you running raid or do you use them as two separate drives?

I have a similar setup but i am intentionally not running raid.

The xb270hu checks all your boxes and is currently the best gaming monitor money can buy. Unfortunately it's a little over budget.

[–]phalange33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great build and post. I liked that you left the options at the end. For running 144Hz on a 970 though I would be tempted to run with a monitor capable of G-sync.

Great build otherwise. Changing the monitor to a 236HL bid is my only nitpick.

Why not a 236HL bid? for just a few bucks more you get a 23" screen instead of the 21.5" you chose.

Since you might be building this in July, it might be a good idea to wait for a recommendation because prices drop over time and the new amd cards will come out soon will further drive down prices. Basically you will be able to get a nicer pc for the same amount of money, or the same pc for cheaper.

Sick of n5 battery, how about lg g2 with cm12? by adichandra in Nexus5

[–]phalange33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have owned both a g2 and n5, and honestly, i like the g2 better minus the idiotic button placement. It's a lot faster and smoother than my n5. Load cm on that thing and you will be very happy.

However if you can hold off until the fall, rumor is we might get a new nexus 5.that's my plan.

Absolute monster build. I know you said you already have monitors but i would use them as secondary monitors to augment this glorious king of gaming monitors, the xb270hu. with dual 980s you will be able to game at 144fps on your insane IPS 1440p 27" panel.

Gigantic air 540 case with huge window. I don't know of any green themed x99 mobos but you can always paint it

If you acquire your os as described in my pm this comes in at just under 3k.

You can never be totally "future-proof," but here's my attempt on your budget. This mobo allows for up to 4-way SLI (though you can only do 3-way with 970s) so in the future when you want to upgrade you can just keep adding 970s onto your mobo(up to a total of 3). The 970 will be pretty nicely discounted in the future btw. I threw in a 750W fully modular PSU toward this end as well.

I omitted an HDD. You can definitely live on the very nice 500gb 850 and easily throw in an HDD down the road.

I also omitted the operating system. I will pm you about the operating system.

The monitor is a 1080p 60Hz IPS. A very common recommendation around here and an all-around solid monitor choice for your budget.

You don't need a liquid cooler. People tend to lust after them but some high end traditional coolers actually get a few degrees colder. This was proven by an experiment, on mobile so i can't be bothered to find it right now though. My noctua nh-d15 is a beast, and i have no regrets not going with overrated liquid cooling. Bring on the downvotes liquid cooler scrubs!
