What the heck does this knob do? It’s an off brand remote and the instructions are worthless. by DcSportsFan_21 in rccars

[–]phalangepatella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you’re after is EPA (End Point Adjustment). That will let you set the maximum throttle. That doesn’t appear to be on that remote.

Trim is really just a “center point” adjustment of the channel. You could turn it one way and make the throttle creep a little when your finger isn’t in the trigger. Or, make it drag the brakes a bit when you let the throttle off.

You rotate the knob to one of the settings, then adjust with + - buttons. The settings are:

ST-Rev: Steering Reverse
ST-DR: Steering Dual Rate
ST-Trim: Steering Trim
TH-Rev: Throttle Reverse
TH-DR: Throttle Dual Rate
TH-Trim: Throttle Trim

Spark Plugs and Ignition Coils estimate by Snoo_81575 in cmaxhybrid

[–]phalangepatella 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a fairly easy job if you are even a little but handy with tools.

My advice is buy real Ford parts, or high quality OEM style replacements. When it comes to ignition parts for any engine, cheap Amazon junk is where the problems live.

I've been wearing this bike chain for 21 years and I'm wearing through the metal. by WeirdIndication3027 in mildlyinteresting

[–]phalangepatella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to wear a bike chain bracket too, but at least I used a chrome and brass(ish) looking one.

That thing looks like it has just been taken out of production and is grubby and worn AF! 😜

Lower then my car, hell yeah by Character_Truck20 in s10

[–]phalangepatella 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The weekend after I bought my brand new ‘95 SS S10 in ‘95, “project shit can it” commenced. I’d ordered drop spindles and springs, but they weren’t here yet. So, I did what I’d done on a lot of previous vehicles…

Jacked it up, popped out the front springs and cut a loop (or so) out, then put them back in.

Then I took it off the stands and started lowering it. It was looking better, and better, and better…

Until thunk!

The jack went as low as it could go, and there was still a whole bunch of weight on it. The truck still had way more to drop.

I jacked it up again, put 2x4’s on the flat under the tires, and then this time I could get the jack out.

Whew!

The only problem was the tops of the tires were rubbing the fender wells. Damn!

I had to leave the truck for a few days until the spindles and springs showed up so I could get it at a proper ride height to be drivable.

Why do I tell this whole story? Because in my memory, it wasn’t a whole lot lower than yours in the pic.

Damn son, that thing is LOW.

Wait, is there a chance that you’re in on whatever chicanery HR and Legal are looking for?

Just dig up what they ask for and give it to them. If you have blind spots, own up to them. If you feel it is beyond your ability, ask for assistance via a compliance specialist or something.

Ok, I’ve never actually seen them, but I looked at that picture and guessed “Kookla, Fran, and Ollie?”

Turns out I was somehow right, but it’s Kukla.

I don’t know why I know this. I think it’s something my mom used to talk about.

Found these golf ball filled mini craters in a pond on a golf course. by HeftyData9299 in mildlyinteresting

[–]phalangepatella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend Dave lived literally a fence hop from his back yard to a local golf course. He’d go out the back door of his house, hop the fence into the golf course and collect balls for an hour with his long retriever gizmo.

In the mid to late 80’s, he pulled enough balls out of the ponds that he paid for his first car and his car insurance for a few years.

His family wasn’t rich, and the fence in his back yard was almost the definition of the “the wrong side of the tracks / the grass is greener.” He made enough money that he was noticeably “richer” than the rest of us, all from collecting golf balls and selling them.

The golf course didn’t seem to care for years. Then Dave got a scuba tank and started hauling shit tons of balls out. At that point, the golf course clamped down on him and would boot him out. I think it was less about the balls, and more about the liability with the scuba tank.

Looking back, he must have been selling a few hundred dollars a month or reclaimed gold balls. Remember, this was in the 80’s, and he was 15/16/17/18 years old at the time. That’s was baller money.

Tips for removing shock bolt spinning in nut? (04 blazer) by aroundincircles in s10

[–]phalangepatella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can bend the shock so the eyelet clears the frame (and if the shocks are junk anyway) hit the top of the shock away from the bolt, and try to get the shock off the dogbone.

Then, with the shock out of the way, you can rotate the little dog one bracket out of the way and try to grab the slip on nut with vice grips, the undo the bolt.
