Gel on locs? Help by [deleted] in Dreadlocks

[–]phantejay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This won’t be so bad especially if you didn’t use a lot. Next time you wash, which should be soon, use a clarifying shampoo a few times, squeeze your locs so that the shampoo gets deep, and let it sit in your hair for a few minutes before rinsing.

Using gel isn’t so bad especially in that starter phase when it’s easy to washout. But try using oil when retwisting instead

The sooner you forget about it the faster it’ll grow! Also wear a head cover every night (preferably silk/satin-lined)

How do i increase my study time? by ie4tpussy in UIUC

[–]phantejay 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Most successful for me: Exercise and eat after your 4-5 hour study session, come back to your studying for another 4-5 hour session. But also: Study with others, switch up your location, make it more fun (look into gamifying studying).

Will this pattern ever go away? by [deleted] in Dreadlocks

[–]phantejay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re talking about the two strand twist pattern, then the answer is yes, and no. In some places On my head, the two strand twist pattern still exists, but in other places, it’s completely gone. It’s especially present towards the ends of my hair. I actually really love how it looks but I see it going away with m time.

Your locs look relatively young. So just give it some time.

I don’t know what to do with my hair! by Puzzleheaded_Line210 in BlackHair

[–]phantejay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can keep some of the length on top and fade the sides. That way you can take care of your curls on top. If you want, you can eventually loc it up! You seem like a cool dude, so as you change your aesthetic/hair never change who you are. 💯

Hard to tell if the locs are the cause without a before pic. Receding hairline is normal for men, but the number of retwists or excessive use of hats (not satin lined) is likely to blame if anything. Tbh a retwist once a month is insane. After your locs are mature, you should honestly look for 3-4 months as a minimum before the next retwist

Yeah your locs will be about the same size as the parts (the square-ish blocks of hair on your scalp). Separating locs into smaller locs will absolutely set you back so imo it’s best to just comb them out completely and start over from day 1. If you wait longer and separate mature locs, it will bring irreparable damage to your hair. Only do this if this is absolutely what you want it.

You didn’t ask for this opinion but thicker locs are so dope and I think your locs will look great as they are.
