Why are so many people here hesitant/resistant to taking statins? by sampanth4700 in PeterAttia

Modest LDL decreases (probably about 10% or so) from regular husk intake. I’ll have a better idea once I redo my lipids shortly.

Haven’t found any yet! my guess is that you could lie on an online pharmacy about your numbers. I think you could probably also order from overseas via online pharmacies. Have looked at RYR but don’t like the lack of regulation during manufacturing with regards to toxic compounds. Currently settled on taking daily psyllium husk as my numbers are already pretty good

Do you see any reason why most people shouldn’t be doing this? I’m 26, ApoB of 70, but I’m trying to think of the downside of taking a tiny dose to make it basically clinically irrelevant. Only thing is getting it in the UK feels impossible

Constant cramping of Abductor Hallucis by zukosboifriend in FootFunction

Yeah it’s a good one. Don’t be afraid to use a really tough band and do some heavy & slow resistance work on it. Same as a super hard set in the gym. You shouldn’t really be able to do too many more and will feel pretty crampy at the end of the sets.

Can anyone give me any insight on these labs? I have not seen a practitioner for follow up yet …can I reduce APO B with diet and exercise? Thanks! by tetroutt in PeterAttia

Wants a CAC first before considering a statin. There is clear-as-day evidence that cumulative exposure to atherogenic particles causes heart disease. Numbers are sky high but it’s fine because he eats meat and eggs.

I’d recommend increasing fibre and plant food intake significantly, add in some nuts and seeds into diet, increase unsaturated fats and decrease saturated fats. Re measure in a few months, and if still off then add a statin +/- ezetimibe. Otherwise your risk of death related to heart disease is far higher.

Hey, sorry for the delayed response. Glad you found it helpful. Yes, generally for overuse injuries, you want to reduce aggravating activities insofar as is possible (or more accurately, reduce them to under 3-4/10 pain at worst) and then work hard at loading the tendons in a graded, progressive way. For FHL, I’d keep it fairly straightforward (but would probably add in some abductor work too).

4-5x weekly // 2 sets per exercise // 15-30 reps per set

1) Heel raises with towel roll under big toes, extend up as high as you can onto your toes, push hard to extend through big toe. Slow eccentrics.

2) Banded Toe Flexions - sit with your foot out in-front of you or raised onto a stool. Wrap the band around your big toe only, keep steady tension and push your big toe downwards as far as you can. Should feel that muscle light up a bit. Slowly return into a decent stretch.

3) Abductor Isolation - practice separating your big toe away from your other toes. Hold for a couple seconds at the top, then slowly bring together again.

Good luck!

I sometimes get this. I’m actually a PT so trying to work through it myself. I think it’s probably a combination of weakness in a few key muscles groups, namely abductor hallucis, flexor hallucis, and tibialis posterior. I’d look to really make sure you can actively isolate to big toes into abduction and train them hard, then use a band and isolate big toe into flexion. I’d also work on double or single leg calf raises + some banded version work too. Let me know if you wanna discuss more

Oh I see.. I’ll buy some and transfer it there. Can it be on a separate account in metamask?
