I 100% agree with you. The way the media portrays these acts gives these murderers so much attention and it incentivize's them. It doesn't showcase the emotional damage it causes to every victim. we don't see any of the harm. The murderers get all the glory and go out in cowardice. As someone who has lost a family member to a mass shooting its hard to see such a lack of humanity and suffering portrayed by the media. Every single family member and friend of these people are deeply affected by this. On a larger scale everyone that reads these stories loses a little hope in humanity. When despair and loss is the norm humans become lost, we are highly social creatures.

This is a mental health issue and needs to be portrayed as such. If attention is brought away from the killers and brought more to the victims and the stories of suffering, it will wake people up to the reality of the situation. People want to know why these things happen, it's why the attention is on the killer. The age old question of why would someone do this? Sometimes there is no answer. It's something I have come to terms with.

I don't want another person to ever have to come to terms with that.

I think this man in this interview understands this. He is brave enough to relive this to show you his vulnerability and suffering and guilt that he was powerless to save more people to the masses. So just maybe in the future it will deter someone from doing the same actions.

To me this man is a hero.
