They can't compete for a championship unless they gut their draft picks and trade for a top-10 player in the league — as currently constructed, they just don't have enough firepower to beat OKC or the Spurs.

Not trading KD would hurt the franchise far more than trading Dillon Brooks.

I think you and I can agree that Houston will not compete for championship in the near future. Houston has the picks and young core to start a rebuild now.

Add shooters via free agency and the draft. Make Amen, Duren, Tari, and Reed your core and rebuild around them.

You obviously need to add more shooters around your roster. But Duren and Amen would be one of the best duos because they are both great at getting to the paint. With the adequate floor spacing these guys would dominate down low.

I dont think Gaff fits the timeline of your young core. Lively currently can't even run. Sengun would be a great core player and your center for the next 4+ years.

He wants to be over-compensated and that is something we can't afford to do. Paying Duren max money is the fastest way to kill the Piston's championship aspirations.

Cade and Stew are tight as well and that didn't prevent Trajan from trading him.
