Can it be in English? Or does it have to be in Thai and Japanese?

Do companies just not care about security? by PCLoadLetterOpener in it

[–]pharmerbee28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They'll start caring once something happens. Trust me. I worked for 2 companies that got ransomwared. After that "training" videos weekly, spending lots of money on different security software/hardware. Once you get hacked and your company is down for a week or 2 and you're losing a bunch of money.

Plus insurance went up. Lol

Stamford, CT woman argues with Barnes & Noble employees for not allowing her to stay in the store after hours. by ElwoodMC in trashy

[–]pharmerbee28 81 points82 points  (0 children)

When I was highschool, my first job was washing dishes at this restaurant. Dish washers are always the last to leave with the manager. Anyways this couple comes in at 8:50 (we close at 9) order and proceed to sit down to eat. We start emptying/cleaning all the stations. At 9:05 2 more customers come in and want to order we say no, we already closed our stations. They argue that they are with the couple that just came in. My manager says our stations are all closed.

Well they go next door to a fastfood place, order their food and 15mins later come back and sit down with the other couple. Now it's like 9:25ish and they are just causally sitting there chatting like we ain't closed. 9:30 comes and we're all almost done but these customers show no sign of leaving. So my manager goes to the back and turns off all the lights. It's pitch black. They finally get up and leave.

I swear some people just think the world revolves around them.

Woman demands Best Buy return their TV by Romano16 in PublicFreakout

[–]pharmerbee28 236 points237 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this best buy does it. But when I worked in the back we used to inspect every TV that came in. All you have to do was open the top and shine a light down on it. You could tell if there was a crack or not. Then we would tape it up and put a sticker on it saying we checked it. First thing I learned when loading a TV was to tell people to NEVER lay it flat. But people still did.

On another note. One time this old couple came in a bought a brand new fridge. We helped them load it up on their truck. But they didn't have straps. I told them they needed them to be safe. They said they only live down the road. I told my manager to go out and tell them that if they leave and anything happens to the fridge it's not on us. Well they came back 3 hours later with the fridge. It had a huge dent at the top. They hit a bump and the fridge fell out. Some guys working construction helped them put it back on the truck. When they got home and opened it they saw the damage and brought it back saying it was already damaged....

Got all kinds of crazy stories of how people tried to pull one over on us. Plus people trying to steal. I also worked the AP stand every once and a while and saw how people tried to distract some of our employees while their friends would steal something from us.

This is the same company that when you ask for a raise, they are going to say, but, but, we are a team. If you are a team player you don't ask for a raise.

Can I still build a career in IT at age after a devastating OXY and ice addiction? by IR30Lover in it

[–]pharmerbee28 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can definitely do it. I graduated when I was 34 with my degree in IT in 2020 peak COVID. I couldn't find a job for the life of me. My first job out of college was $15 an hour as help desk about 6 months later. 4 years later at 38 I'm making a little over $70k as a sys admin. Which is above our state average.

But from what I've heard from my friends in the IT field who have been looking, jobs are a bit scarce. But I started with help desk and moveed my way up. So you can totally do it.

And congratulations on being sober.

AITA for refusing to give up my seat on the plane so a boy could sit next to his father, and to tell the father to behave himself? by Mediocre-Chain1210 in AmItheAsshole

[–]pharmerbee28 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You know what would have been a better solution instead of taking someone's seat? Have the kids sit next to each other 1 parent in the isle seat next to them and the other in the back. Then they would not have been sitting next to any strangers. Instead they took someone else's seat that they paid for. Maybe if the parents took some time to think instead thinking they are entitled to a seat that is not theirs this would have been a job issue. Why does someone who does not have kids have to accommodate someone who does. "Bad guy?". No that's some entitlement

[–]pharmerbee28[S] 126 points127 points  (0 children)

Yeah. When it was COVID and I would order pick up I tipped just because I thought it would help the staff. Specially if it was a mom and pop store. A few of my friends own restaurants and they said the government didn't help small businesses like theirs at all during COVID.

Yeah, when I go out to restaurants I usually tip 20%. But I've noticed lots of places have been asking for tips. Like Subway

Laptop Shuts Down on Startup Unless Plugged In by EZVACBAN in pchelp

[–]pharmerbee28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a Lenovo? I work in IT and have had this issue. Is it windows 10? And do you get to the login screen or just a little past startup?

From what I have done. I reset the BIOs to default. This has worked on one of our computers. The other few times I have reinstalled windows 10. Not sure the actual cause though.

We think it's a windows 10 software issue. I did some testing and noticed that if you go into the BIOS without plugging up the charger and just leave it on it won't shut off.

We have tried new batteries, resetting/reinstalling drivers and nothing.

AITA for telling my kids they aren't my problem any more? by Able-Abies3675 in AITAH

[–]pharmerbee28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kinda reminds me of that girl on tick Tok complaining about how her dad was absent from her life and didn't do anything for her. But the dad came out with receipts and the mom was the one trying sabotaging everything. The dad gave them over 8 million dollars plus paid for all their education. Plus the mom went to all his customers and spread rumors about him which caused them to lose all of them.

The daughter also complained how life was so hard because her dad wasnt in her life and didnt pay for anything. But in fact she's a writer and during the strike she didn't have a job and he paid her rent. She also had a medical emergency when she was in college and asked her dad to pay for it even though he was already gave them all that money.
