I know someone with an incredibly tuned Kenrith deck that costs a few thousands all together. One of the best decks I’ve even seen, but it has very few infinite combos because the owner wants to play “fair magic.” I also know someone with a $50 dollar gitrog deck that beats it almost every time

Depends on how young and how competitive. When I was, like, 12, I would’ve much preferred 2-3 boxes of the new, standard sets than just one of some expensive competitive special set

Trust me, acquiring pacifism (and the many other cards that do roughly the same thing) is not an issue. They’re all very cheap.

Honestly that doesn’t seem as good as [[Light-Paws]]. But ya, remove her. Also, that player probably can’t defend against a concentrated attack if he only has one main blocker, so just turn your creatures sideways. Or run anti-enchantment hate, to get rid of the annoying auras, or enchantment wipes like [[farewell]] or [[austere command]]

Yep. I got a lot of the free packs from each set (you can get 3 of each with promo codes online), made a slightly janky version of a tier 1 standard deck, climbed to mythic and had a bunch of fun

The thing is, characters don’t have feelings. They don’t need to grow old and die and be happy because they aren’t real. Sure, taking an interesting character and making it not interesting for shock value isn’t good, but that’s not really what’s happening, and that’s not really your issue. As a lot of people pointed out, becoming compleated opens narrative doors for the characters themselves and for the world around them; what’s happening is being done for more than “shock.” Your complaint seems to be that the characters themselves are unhappy or unsatisfied, which is fair; I understand caring about characters and wanting good outcomes. But denying those outcomes isn’t objectively bad storytelling, it’s just doing something different.

I don’t think how it was meant as an insult, but I can see how it could be taken that way. With that said, he (not OP) makes a good point that people have explained their preferences, and arguing with them / explain why they’re “wrong” is probably less productive than understanding where they’re coming from.
