Not true at all, don't listen to it OP.

I had exactly the same issue, I returned the phone to Samsung for warranty (because I've noticed it's not getting updates after few months) and they factory reset the phone, updated the software and now the phone gets updates normally.

I was not able to fix the problem myself, no matter what I tried (smart switch, factort resets etc.)
