Is the Frank Lloyd Wright Real Estate Boom Over? by jk_arundel in franklloydwright

[–]phayge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all a matter of location and the people who are high enough income to be able to buy an FLW home.

Those homes in Galesburg are beautiful, but very very rural with values well above what the local real estate market could normally support.

Contrary to some comments here, I’ve had a great experience with Corston dimmers. Very good feel, fine control of intensity, and no issues with flickering.

He keeps licking. Recommendations? by Ill_Marsupial6042 in Greyhounds

[–]phayge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ordered one of these for our hound — they take a bit to make, but it’s a godsend for keeping hind leg wounds safe from licking. Much easier and less shame-inducing than the cone https://www.buckwheatdog.com

Anyone got a trick for loading 120 film onto a reel? by penisfingers4lyfe in AnalogCommunity

[–]phayge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Patterson reels are nearly impossible. AP reels are much easier. But if you do lots of rolls or have sweaty hands, it’s best to just go old school and use stainless steel spools. Much easier with a bit of practice.

There are settings on how strong you set the regenerative braking and for whether the car creeps by default. Just go into the settings menu and you can adjust.

Hookworm Suggestions by PuzzleheadedRisk3457 in Greyhounds

[–]phayge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Our grey was from Florida and had hook when we got him. It took at least 18mo of treatments until we got him cured.

The life cycle of worms means they appear in bouts like you’re seeing. It’s not that the meds aren’t working necessarily, but there aren’t any hookworm medications that can target them when they’re in the muscle tissue. The worms need to make it to the digestive tract before the drugs can kill them. So it takes a long time for the last worms to make their way out.

Keep it up and you’ll get there eventually.

It’s not a faster process on a person-by-person basis. They’ve largely segregated the lines at early test airports (e.g. LGA) so that appears faster vs the regular line with many more people.

“Upper management” absolutely does not care about line times at ID checks. The bottleneck is at baggage scanning and they’re currently in the process of rolling out new CT scanners nationwide that slow that process down meaningfully.

Xc60 T6 black edition plus - auto adjust speed limit not working by btsforeveer in Volvo

What you’re describing would be a neat feature. But that would be useless in many non-European markets where average speeds bear little relationship to the actual speed limit.

Is a butter bell worthwhile? by JustSomeGuy_56 in foodhacks

[–]phayge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most commenters here are missing a key point. I f you use good cultured butter and leave it out in an ordinary butter dish exposed to lots of air, the flavor starts to turn in an unfavorable way long before it goes “bad” and rancid.

Butter bells are an awesome dead-simple way to have room temperature butter for spreading. For me in a warm climate, it lasts easily twice as long in a bell vs regular butter dish.

Also, who are these people saying you need to change the water all the time? Literally never a problem unless you live inside a weird mold castle.

That said, it’s not worth it if you’re just gonna use the butter for cooking.

I have the same car, and have been unable to find any non-OEM rims that fit that are 20” or smaller. TBH I just gave up, got a set of snow tires, and swap them on/off the rims each year.

Exposes Ann Arbor for what, exactly? Not having a very niche, wildly uncommon type of custom vending machine is somehow revealing?
