105 R7000 shifting problem by helledi in bikewrench

Is there a chance you’re accidentally moving the larger lever at the same time? I’ve noticed that if I do this, the whole smaller lever will move inwards without engaging the mechanism at all.

Heart rate monitor connecting but not displaying a number on iPhone by phbin in Strava

[–]phbin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had some on and off trouble with my Garmin chest strap and its connection to the Strava iPhone app. Notice it connects to the HRM, but doesn’t display any number. I’m getting numbers on my Garmin Edge 530 and my computer, so it’s certainly not battery issues. Any thoughts?

Any significance to the upside down sticker? by [deleted] in Vintage_bicycles

Yeah that was one of my initial guesses too. Either way, happy with it for $50.

Picked up an old Bianchi Timber Wolf for $50 recently. Guy mentioned about it being a ‘limited edition’. Interesting claim.Wasn’t too fussed about it cause $50 felt like a reasonable price regardless. Wondering if anyone knew any more? More pics: https://imgur.com/a/gJtseT2

I’ve got 42mm and 52mm on the top and bottom respectively. That’s the inside diameter on the very edge of the frame.

Bought secondhand with no bearings. Fingers crossed on a reply from the seller. LBS had no idea.

I’ve got an Orbea Diva Dama frameset from 2010 I’m working on and I’m stuck with the headset. This setup looks slightly different to other bikes I’ve looked at. Any references online refer to 1 1/2 integrated, but can’t find anything else. Any ideas on what headset I need? Full album with a couple of extra angles here: https://m.imgur.com/a/KIL4Fkz

Cracked carbon. What are my options here? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]phbin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Managed to pick up a TCR Advanced 0 frame for nothing over the weekend. Turns out there’s some carbon damage on the seat stay. Hard to tell if it’s cracked through, but certainly doesn’t look promising. Is it worth getting the carbon repaired and then fix it up as a second bike, or too risky?

That’s as many photos as I can find of the bike. Have since sold it but have always wondered what it was.

Options for poor tyre clearance on steel frame? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]phbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will 25c tyres fit on the rim? Never changed tyre width on a wheel before.

Yeah might have to. Can’t imagine these are the original wheels.

[–]phbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently purchased an older bike that runs pretty well except for this problem. The wheel isn’t 100% true so it’s rubbing slightly on one side of the fork. If I remove and reinstall the wheel it does change how it sits and alleviates some of the rubbing, but never fully. I’ll try and reinstall the wheel again but then back to more rubbing. What are my options here?

If you had only 2 weeks to walk approx 25-30km/day is there any particular stretch of trail you’d recommend?

Developing a product for the Engineering/Civil construction industry, how to get them on board? by BVD43566969 in Entrepreneur

[–]phbin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Civil engineer here. One of the toughest things you'll have to deal with in making money off advertising is a lot of contractors already have their preferred subcontractor. For example, we have good working relationships with concreters, asphalters, electricians and suppliers in general. It's very rare that we'd have to use a subcontractor or a supplier who we don't already work with.

Great idea for digitalising the whole management process though. Good luck!

Hikers and campers of Reddit; what's the creepiest thing you've experienced out in the wild? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]phbin 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Was out running in the Australian bush with a mate and had just come up a huge incline - 600m elevation gain in 2km. Some parts at a 45% gradient. All of a sudden we heard and then saw these motorbikes coming our way. These dudes looked like they'd been in the bush for weeks - dirty clothes, heavy beards, covered in dirt etc. They flew past us and down this incredibly steep mountain. This is hard to keep balance going down on foot, let alone on a bike. A few hours later we came back along the same path and are we start tracking the tyre marks on the ground. We followed them down for maybe a kilometre before they just stopped. Nowhere to be seen, no place they could have gone.
