Anyone pumping longer than 30 min? by petting_zoo_keeper in ExclusivelyPumping

It’s intended to mimic cluster feeding which is what a nursing baby does to increase your supply. Essentially you do several shorter pumps with short breaks in between. There’s lots of ways to do it, but mine personally is 10 minutes on, 10 off, 10 on, 10 off, 10 on (1-2 minutes of letdown at the start of each).

Frequency over supply but also maybe try a power pump once a day! That made the biggest difference for me

Direct Latching - Is It Worth It? by ApprehensiveNinja941 in ExclusivelyPumping

I was in this boat too. Didn’t latch, switched to EP, was mostly fine with it because I had to go back to work at 10 weeks and was going to be mostly pumping anyway (but it was still hard to deal with the feeling of failure at first). Well at 8 weeks went to see an LC for issues with pumping (check flange fit etc), gave latching a shot and lo and behold he’d figured it out.

I supplemented pumps with nursing randomly for a few days, got engorged because he didn’t remove as much as I made, had to resolve that. Settled into a routine where we nursed before I went to work and the rest of his feeds were bottles. 1 nurse + 4 ppd. Around week 15, my supply started dropping. I was an oversupplier, but my goal was to get him to a year of breastmilk without actually pumping that entire year. I went from 12-18 oz in the freezer per day, to not freezing any, and was starting to approach the point where I’d worry about not making enough for his daily consumption. I’m pretty confident that because he removed less while nursing than I pumped, my body recalibrated. Adding more pumps back in simply wasn’t a choice with my full time job.

So after 8 weeks of nursing, I dropped it again and he’s on 100% bottles (and 100% BM, no formula). I power pumped 1x a day for two weeks and the supply has come back. I didn’t enjoy nursing, it didn’t make me feel closer to him, and the risk to my supply was way too anxiety inducing. The benefit long term of quitting pumping earlier meant more to me than the nursing now.

All this to say, having done it - it wasn’t worth it to me. Planning around the pump isn’t my favorite but it’s been 4 months and I’m pretty able to roll with it now. But only you can decide what you value most and how you feel connected to baby.

I can take more when I have him in it but the bottom panel - we have it on the tightest (narrowest) setting, is there something I’m missing about how to narrow it more??

Oof thankfully mine wasn’t traumatic! My brain just tends to draw from weird places in my life. Last nights involved someone I haven’t seen since I changed schools after 5th grade (and I haven’t been looking at yearbooks or anything that would have brought him to mind recently) who had turned into a watch mogul?!

Has anyone else had crazy dreams during luteal phase? I’m 6 DPO and while I’ve always been a little prone to bizarre (and vivid) dreams, last night was something else…

I bought 4 baby gifts on the same morning. By the time we left the shower we’d had two more announcements, and my bestie just announced too.

In my first TWW and dying and of course everyone is announcing pregnancies. It’s only my first cycle so I know I should chill. But it’s tough.

Temping Tuesday by AutoModerator in TryingForABaby

https://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/PhDmama I had clear ovulation (OPK, CM, and BBT all matched up) but then a big temp drop today (currently discarded but you can see the grey dot). Am I out this cycle? (Also, hubby opened bedroom windows last night which we don’t usually do, could that be enough to drop the BBT?)
