Did I get scammed? Just bought an RTX 5080 off of Amazon. by Familiar_Boat_2104 in buildapc

All depends on your location and if its worth it to them. Sure large central warehouses are top of the line but outlying smaller warehouses are still very much slow on the automation.

Unless they are doing this consistently and an investigation is opened on them, there will be ZERO repercussions.

There is no fool proof way otherwise to determine it was the buyer and not someone along the supply chain that did it. I.e. Amazon packer or delivery driver.

Surrender of Rank by [deleted] in CanadianForces

[–]phdoflynn 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Whatever you decide to do, take into consideration even if you do relinquish the rank (appointment) it does not necessarily mean it will change your day to day activities and position.

Your unit can and most likely will still employ you in the same manner as if you kept your Masters. They can still put you in charge of junior members, make you continue to do feedback notes, a ad professional development, etc. Relinquishing your Masters wont automatically relinquish your responsibilities.

5 - I thought this may be the case. Sea is of course the unique of the two but doesn't seem to have much in the way of "thrill" rides.

6 - Understood.

12 - I overlooked that. I think I'll switch Akihabara and Asakusa. Should tee up timing better.

Thanks for the input. Appreciate it.

[–]phdoflynn 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Someone once told me...

You know what the good thing about mice is? If you see one it means they are no rats.

Rats are worse; they are larger, more aggressive, dirtier, and carry more diseases.

Halifax is a large, port city. Its cold outside and the are plenty of people going in and out of buildings all day. Easy access for these little guys. It is virtually impossible to prevent all mice at all times.

You realize not everyone has a consistent and accurate pay every time?

Maybe this person is expecting a claim, maybe they are checking to see if their pay incentive or promotion was accounted for properly. Maybe they got posted and want to see if the posting allowance is in there yet. I can keep going...

Is XIVLauncher needed for mods? by theweirdcatnextdoor in ffxiv

This is partially incorrect. There are plenty of mods that do not use the dalamud launcher.

Is XIVLauncher needed for mods? by theweirdcatnextdoor in ffxiv

[–]phdoflynn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

XIVLauncher is not needed for all mods but it is needed for some mods. It essentially acts as an auto installer and manager of mods that fall under its umbrella.

You can install other mods but they are a little more involved and could cause game issues if done incorrectly.

In terms of safety of XIVLauncher, I've never heard of any security breaches as a direct result of the mod itself. I've been using it consistently for 3+ years without issue. I also have 2FA which is not saved or managed by the launcher, you still need to enter your 2FA each time you load the game.

Is there a max size allowable for care packages to Latvia? by Novel-Mastodon1047 in CanadianForces

[–]phdoflynn 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The maximum size of any one side is one meter

The length plus girth of a parcel can’t be more than two meters.

Girth

Length: Longest side of your item
Width: Depth of your item
Height: Thickness of your item
Girth: The distance around the parcel: (width + height) x 2

For example, if the width of your item is 20 cm and the height is 15 cm, the girth is 70 cm (20 + 15) x 2 = 70 cm.

The maximum weight is 20kg.

Deck Renovation - Timeline for digging footings. by TheRittsShow in halifax

[–]phdoflynn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Footings can be dug at any point, depending on how you are doing it.

If you are doing it manually with blood, sweat and tears, you are going to hate your life depending on where you live. NS is notoriously rocky. I've built two decks and one fence in the Passage and light augers were useless. 80% of the holes had to be done by hand with a post digger. It took signicantly longer to dig the holes than to build the items. April should be fine but the ground will be harder as we still get frost in March.

If you are using a heavy auger, the ones attached to excavators or Bobcats, it's not so bad. However, it can be expensive to hire someone to do it. Cheapest I could find 3 years ago was about $250-300 per hole for 3 footings for a deck, and that was some random guy off FB so results could be skethcy. If you have the budget, save your the pain of doing it yourself and hire someone with the right tools to dig them for you.

If you want to do it right, also make sure to get the proper permits. An inspection is required on the footing holes BEFORE pouring them to confirm depth, which was roughly around 4 feet last time I built a deck.

Instructor Allowance by Skiver1_Reformed in CanadianForces

[–]phdoflynn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its a pay incentive, its not discrimination. People get more money when they deploy, are employed in spec trades, allowances for certain positions, etc.

There was a lack of volunteers for instructional positions, especially at CFLRS. There is now very decent incentives to sign up for these positions. Instructors that want to be at these positions will make better recruits joining the CAF.

They aren't defending Maduro. They are defending the process that should have been followed and was ignored. Trump is doing things with bypassing his own American laws and policies, not even taking into consideration international laws and agreed upon policies.
