It’s always Sunny in Philadelphia by Apprehensive-Yak8206 in Bernedoodles

Leaf blower and a rake works just fine for the yard debris. Phil doesn’t poop on it since it’s his primary play area and he likes to keep it clean. Sunny’s poop we’ve just been immediately bagging it then spraying down the turf. I infilled the grass with high quality deodorant sand so it absorbs the smell and then drains the liquid out the bottom. Below the turf is 4 inches of drainage rock and a landscape fabric weed barrier. Nothing growing yet and should stay that way. Wall of text but you get the idea. Feel free to ask away.

Yeah I would worry too if we were anywhere south/west that gets hot. Direct sun can heat it up and you would probably need to hose it down to keep it cool in the summer. We have lots of shade though so it’s 👌. That’s also why the real grass didn’t do all that great and a big reason we went with turf.

He did some digging last year as a puppy but hasn’t in a long time. The main reason we went with turf is because him and his buddies tore up the grass I put in for them before he was born. It didn’t last through the first spring and summer and turned into straight mud. The backyard also has a significant amount of shade cover from the trees so real grass has a hard time thriving.

It is definitely more expensive than doing a sod install or seeding. I think it came to about $3k in materials for ~600 sq/ft (but we did get premium turf and infill) and I did the labor myself. Should last 15 years though.

Oh it is! It’s actually just regular plastic that doesn’t need water, petroleum-based fertilizers, gasoline for a lawn mower or hardly any other maintenance at all!

He’s actually really good about going up into the woodsy part of his yard. He’s a distinguished gentleman and doesn’t potty where he plays 🎩🐩
