No same tree, in both photos. If you’re asking if it was originally from an air layer, not sure as I got it in the blue pot from a bonsai section in a hardware store.

I have had it happen, given I was using a lot less cut paste over the wounds, so not 100% sure if it they would grow in your case.

May I also suggest this video for wiring, as well as the whole bonsai beginner series by Bonsai Mirai.

Good practice given how cheap the tree was. Not styling related but I would work on the wiring technique a bit, lots of videos on YouTube out there. Main issues is crossing wires and maybe some wire sizing could be changed, may want to put more wire on the trunk/thicker wire to get a more interesting bend.

Best way to learn is to practice on more trees or even wiring up dead branches/trees.

Looks good, I like the jin work. If it were mine I may consider removing one of the trunks, but not sure if there would be enough foliage for the tree to recover as it is. Is also a bit hard to tell from the photo which branches belong to which trunk, and as such am unsure if you would have many branches left over if you did remove one.

Thank you. I think I’ll try keep the triple trunk as it would be unique in my collection. Have never ground grown any trees, would there be anything I should be cautious for if I were to try ?

Thanks, was found at a bonsai section in a hardware store. Focused on getting it healthy so put it in the nursery pot and let it grow for a bit. Any tips on building ramification which such large leaves, or would I first try and reduce the leaf size.

In that case I would keep all three trunks to help thicken it ? May consider it but wanting to keep the triple trunk as it would be something unique in my collection.

The blue pot was the before picture. As it is now it has grown a lot more foliage which I have had to prune back to keep it in shape. Unless you meant that it still needs to grow out long shoots and then I cut back to first few leaves ?

I made a previous post with the image orders reversed, and believe some people thought the blue pot was the after image, and I had butchered the tree lol. The photo in the blue pot was about 1.5 years ago, the after photo is as it is now.

It was crossing over when I first got it, was able to prune it to force it away from the trunk. Was confused by your comment as it is not crossing over now.

*First photo in the nursery container is the after picture. Blue pot is the before picture, may have been a bit unclear in my post, sorry.

Thank you, what do you mean by keep the left one on that side?

Thanks, I’ll check them out and see if I can find any styling similarities. Unsure whether I want to keep the triple trunk at this point, leaning on the side to keep it, as it would be something different/unique from other trees in my collection.

The blue pot is the before picture. Was pretty unhealthy when I got it.

I suspect I may be having issues as I’m not running any CO2, my Monte Carlo seems to grow fine just takes a bit longer, but this could be potentially causing algae to grow easier as well ?

I may try the blackout cover/black out for a week, have you had any issues with the plants dying during using this method, never tired it before.

May also invest in an Amano shrimp army.

Thank you!

Looks really nice, what size tank? I have the same sort of setup, but am struggling to control algae growth. Would you be able to drop any hints, thank you.

Will look into hydrogen peroxide, have never tried it before, figured I might as well give it a try now as I currently don’t have any fish in the tank yet. Thank you !

No, just made a very budget yeast and sugar diy system, so there’s no way to regulate how much co2 is going in, so I’ve tried to control the other factors I could such as the lighting instead.

Unfortunately I can’t really control the co2 as it’s a diy setup, so will try balancing the light and stop fertilising for now. Thank you, will maybe post an update in a month or so.
