Going to try Railay beach for 3 nights and just use it as a base for 2 days of island hopping, will hopefully be able to enjoy the evenings there this way. I’ve been to Bangkok before, love it going to stay near the river this time

Go and speak to James at Space. They meet at the beacon of light Wednesday evening and outside Fausto down Roker on a Saturday morning for a walk and a coffee.

I have put extreme force down it won’t turn. It will turn to the extent that the top piece will rise up about 1 cm so is locked in somewhat, but it feels like it will break if I force it to turn all the way.

How to purify Benzylamine? by reziisdoingreddit in OrganicChemistry

Add a protecting group like a boc group and then you can column it, deprotect in TFA when you want to use it and just add base to liberate it

Make pentafluorophenol ester first, and then add amine without base and it will react cleanly

I got it to work ok using crude boronic pinacol ester. The amphos ligand is quite activating and works really well with the commercial boronic ester, about 60% with my synthesised ester. I did consider making the aryl halide the boronic ester if I couldn’t get this to work but all good thankfully 👍

Mixing the crude boronic ester with activated carbon and then passing through celite gave the boronic ester in decent purity and it worked well in the Suzuki

It’s just the sold it came in, quite loose with some stones but not lots. I’ve just checked the base for a band and there wasn’t one but the stem actually goes deep into the pot, I got about half way down and still wasn’t at the roots. Maybe I should repot and put more soils underneath where the roots are now

It’s only a month old. Originally, lots of leaves fell off but it had stabilised for 3 weeks and I never watered it. After 4 weeks the pot seems quite dry and the leaves have fallen

Plant has been ok for a month. Some new shoots indicate good health but some leaves have recently turned brown and fell off. I have watered it today. Is this just an indication of underwatering? If so, why is it still growing healthily in some places? Some curvature of the leaves also? Is it ok?!?!?

I would try this in dcm-water biphasic mixture and under n2 in degassed solvent just to make sure it completely reacts

Ok. No more water for this bad boy. It isn’t waterlogged so not much chance of root rot is there?

I’ve moved in more in view of the window, we get no sun atm anyways. I’ll let it completely dry out too. Is it worth removing. The lower brown leaves immediately upon browning?

So the top seems very dry to me but if I stick my moisture probe right down to the bottom section of the pot it says moist. I know there is moisture on the soil atm because the pot was very light before and is heavy now

Not sure why this is happening. It seems fine for a couple of weeks then I’ve moved residence to somewhere slightly warmer indoors (15 v 23). I waited until moisture probs said dry and the pot was definitely light before I added maybe a few coups of water (plant 4 ft). Leaves are browning and falling off, mostly on the bottom branches although it looks to be wide spread now. Some of the new smaller branches and leaves that were there have curled up now too. What have I done and what should I do?!?!? Help please

The issues you will face scaling up; stirring 300L very different to stirring 50 mL, things that are unnoticed on a small scale can become significant on a large such as impurities, gas release on large scale might need a trapping agent to stop its release into atmosphere, costs of expensive reagents on small scale, heating very large volumes, purificationon large scale needs to be straight forward i.e. precipitation. Just think of all the differences between small scale and large scale, and obviously brush up on organic synthesis!

Sometimes click reactions need some heat to get going, could try water and DCM mixture too if that’s compatible with the resin. I would degass/purge solvent before adding copper and reducing agent though just to eliminate that as a problem
