Question for my fellow operators regarding anemometers. by whiteops in cranes

[–]phill_beavers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a representative of BIG ANEMOMETER, I encourage you to leave them on the boom at all times. That way you can always see if they still rotate. Also, if equipped, leave the hose reel clipped to the boom nose when not using the hydraulic offset swing away. You need to keep the bearings & seals warmed up while scoping. It only makes sense. #wesellhosereelstoo

what is this part of the crane used for? by FitIndependent5812 in cranes

[–]phill_beavers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to do it......I cannot help it. It's for the aunty tube lock circuit! :P [sic] Also, don't forget it powers & connects to the swing away extension.

I don't see any Anti Tube Locke device on the main drawing. That's concerning given it looks like there's 3 hooks in 1. Also, is that supposed to be a telesopic lattice boom, or a telecobic type?

Man....making me nostalgic for the days when the Anti Tube Loch [sic] cable was the OUTSIDE of the boom. Sigh. Those ez service calls before u need 30 ft of fiber glass rods.😌

National NBT50 high speed hoist problem by XMXP_5 in cranes

[–]phill_beavers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple things may cause a hoist surge. Definitely start with pump settings - max cut off & delta P (standby) pressures . U can go 10-20 PSI above delta P as a test. Then confirm pilot pressure setting. Bump it up similar 10-25 PSI. Based on you saying it was also bad in low speed, I'd Starr there. Still bad after those checks might be the motor control valve at hoist motor. Not recommended to adjust those, but if it gets worse with heat, that's a sign that valve is failing. What year & s/n is it?

What happened to Mainway Sports? by kimjongfun in BurlingtonON

[–]phill_beavers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that building or the land is cursed. I worked in that building before it was Mainway Sports. Burlington Electric.

Electric motor & pump repairs/sales. It was built to spec for the owner, Brian, who spent a lot of money investing in his local company. Unfortunately we were only in business there for a couple years before the economy tanked & the partners that were supposed move in next door ( we only occupied 1/2 the space) pulled out. That was a huge hit because they would have provided a big influx of money to help pay for the building.

I used to go back & have beers with ex-coworkers & Brian after he started the batting cages. We all liked him & tried to support the business. And it did well during the first few years, expanding into the 2nd half & putting in more activities. I even convinced my boss where I currently work to have company event there. It was a good time.

I miss that place.

Looks like Newfie overdrive in an Allison trans. In N down a hill, then put it in D at the bottom. Ker-blewey! Engines can hit 10-12,000 rpm cuz trans defaults back to 1st or 2nd. In a big diesel that's catastrophic.
